Thu, 16 May 2013 21:54:46 -0700 Chicago Cubs SP Matt Garza (lat) logged six shutout innings Thursday, May 16, in a rehab start for Triple-A Iowa. He allowed two hits and struck out six while not allowing a walk. He's on schedule to join the big-league club sometime next week. When Garza comes back, P Carlos Villanueva looks like the most realistic rotation casualty. Though manager Dale Sveum hasn't shut down the idea of a six-man rotation, it's unlikely to happen in the long term. Fantasy Tip: He'll probably have around two months to work back into form so the Cubs can showcase him for a possible late-July trade. Villanueva can be dropped in mixed leagues when Garza re-establishes his rotation spot. Scott Feldman has pitched relatively well lately, and Villanueva's past bullpen experience is actually working against his fantasy value here.
Tue, 14 May 2013 14:19:32 -0700 Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum said the team may use a six-man rotation when SP Matt Garza (lat) returns to the team. Fantasy Tip: Travis Wood, Scott Feldman and Carlos Villanueva have all been carrying their weight in the rotation, so Sveum might find it too hard to bump one of them to the bullpen to make room for Garza. Don't expect the six-man rotation to last for long, though, so those three might be competing to stay in the rotation in their next few starts.
Wed, 08 May 2013 12:56:40 -0700 Chicago Cubs SP Scott Feldman (finger) is fine after leaving in the eighth inning of his start Monday, May 6, with cramping in his right index finger. Fantasy Tip: Feldman has surprised with his performances since moving to the National League. Pitching at Wrigley Field is never easy, and with a pitcher like Feldman, you have to be skeptical. But he's getting it done and has the confidence to be considered for a roster spot in deep mixed leagues.
Sat, 13 Apr 2013 09:48:43 -0700 Chicago Cubs SP Scott Feldman (back) will not pitch until Saturday, April 20, against the Milwaukee Brewers, because he is currently bothered by tightness in his back.
Thu, 14 Feb 2013 11:19:59 -0800 Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum said SP Scott Feldman will be in the starting rotation this year and SP Scott Baker (elbow) will likely be held back at the start of the season.
Wed, 13 Feb 2013 21:54:58 -0800 Chicago Cubs SPs Scott Baker, Scott Feldman, Carlos Villanueva and Travis Wood are all in competition for the final two rotation spots. "Gotta fight for the job," Wood said Tuesday, Feb. 12. "May the best man win." Feldman likely has the inside track for a spot, as he is a former 17-game winner for the Texas Rangers back in 2009.
Fri, 08 Feb 2013 20:46:56 -0800 Chicago Cubs SP Scott Feldman is projected to serve as the fifth starter. One of the reasons he wanted to sign with the Cubs was to be a full-time starter.
Fri, 30 Nov 2012 06:05:36 -0800 The Kansas City Royals offered SP Scott Feldman a one-year, $4.5 million deal before he signed with the Chicago Cubs.
Tue, 27 Nov 2012 13:22:50 -0800 Chicago Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer said SP Scott Feldman will serve as a starter with the team. The team also expects SP Scott Baker (elbow) to fill out the starting rotation next season.
Tue, 27 Nov 2012 07:36:53 -0800 Updating an immediate report, the Chicago Cubs have agreed with free-agent SP Scott Feldman (Rangers) on a one-year, $6 million deal that includes $1 million in incentives.
