The Philadelphia Phillies announced all of manager Charlie Manuel's coaches will return for the 2012 season. Rich Dubee (pitching), Greg Gross (hitting), Pete Mackanin (bench), Sam Perlozzo (first base), Juan Samuel (third base), Mick Billmeyer (bullpen), and bullpen catcher Jesus Tiamo will keep their respective positions.

The Philadelphia Phillies hired former Baltimore Orioles manager Juan Samuel as their new third base coach Thursday, Nov. 11, according to ESPN.com's Jayson Stark. Third base coach Sam Perlozzo will move to first base.

Ken Rosenthal, of FOXSports.com, reports Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard started working on improving his defense with third base coach Sam Perlozzo in early January this year. Howard has also been working to improve his throws to second base after making significant improvements in his glovework and footwork. Perlozzo worked with Howard on developing a quite glove; not flipping, not snatching, but keeping the glove low, so only a slight movement is required after the ball is put in play.

Seattle Mariners third base coach Sam Perlozzo coached from the bench Saturday, April 26, against the Oakland Athletics, after having torn the meniscus in his left knee. It is unclear how the injury happened, but he will undergo surgery soon, according to the Associated Press. In the interim, first base coach Eddie Rodriguez will move over to third and bench coach Jim Riggleman will coach at first.

The Associated Press reports the Seattle Mariners are expected to hire Sam Perlozzo as their new third base coach. Perlozzo served as a coach with the Mariners from 1993-95.

ESPN.com reports sources have told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney that Baltimore Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo is likely to be fired and the team is working to arrange a meeting with former Florida Marlins manager Joe Girardi to discuss taking the job.

Bob Sherwin, of Orioles.MLB.com, reports Baltimore Orioles manager Sam Perlozzo spoke with general manager Mike Flanagan about what they can do to improve the bullpen, which has been overworked and underperforming thus far. It seems likely that they will promote from within the organization, or other possibilities include moving a starter to the bullpen or acquiring someone via trade.
