Updating a previous item, Toronto Blue Jays DH Randy Ruiz made his first start Wednesday, April 14, against the Chicago White Sox. Ruiz had his first hit of the season, a single to right in the fifth inning that ended White Sox SP John Danks' no-hit bid, then he stole second and scored on OF Jose Bautista's single.

James Hall, of MLB.com, reports Toronto Blue Jays DH Randy Ruiz could make his first start of the year Wednesday, April 14. Manager Cito Gaston might decide to keep either 1B Lyle Overbay or OF Travis Snider on the bench against a left-handed pitcher. Overbay and Snider are both struggling at the plate to begin the year.

Jordan Bastian, of MLB.com, reports Toronto Blue Jays 3B Edwin Encarnacion (wrist) is on pace to be ready for Opening Day. If Encarnacion is healthy to begin the season, OF Jose Bautista will stay in right field, OF Travis Snider likely will be the left fielder, OF Adam Lind will serve as the everyday designated hitter and 1B Randy Ruiz will be on the bench. The team does not want to have Snider in a platoon situation in left field.
