Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (ankle) is listed as a reserve on the lineup card Thursday, July 10, against the San Diego Padres.
Fantasy Tip: Expect the Dodgers to activate Crawford from the disabled list before tonight's game. Crawford will likely be eased back into playing time, but he was scorching hot before his injury. He is worth considering in all formats. His activation will leave the Dodgers' outfield stocked with options. Scott Van Slyke and Andre Either are likely to see the least playing time going forward. To a lesser degree, Matt Kemp will also see less playing time.

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Scott Van Slyke hit two home runs in the team's victory Monday, June 9, and currently leads the team's outfielders with a 1.060 OPS. Van Slyke has played in a very limited role off the bench for the Dodgers, often matching up against left-handed hitters. Eleven of his 20 hits have gone for extra-base hits, and he has walked 18 times in 40 games. Manager Don Mattingly said he is considering platooning Van Slyke with OF Andre Ethier in center field.
Fantasy Tip: Van Slyke's playing time is too thin and unpredictable to make him a fixture in a standard mixed league. But he should be owned in NL-only leagues and considered in a deep enough mixed league, especially if he starts platooning in center with Ethier.

Los Angeles Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez is receiving the day off Friday, May 30. OF Scott Van Slyke is starting at first base.

The Los Angeles Dodgers refuse to call up OF Joc Pederson until an everyday lineup spot opens up. "We don't feel like it's the right time right now for Joc," said manager Don Mattingly.
Fantasy Tip: After Carl Crawford's ankle injury, they'll keep rolling with Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier, with a sprinkle of Scott Van Slyke, instead. Pederson is having an MVP-like year for Class AAA Albuquerque, so whenever he does come up, he'll be an instant fantasy add.

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp has taken hold of the full-time starting duties in center field, according to skipper Don Mattingly. That leaves OFs Carl Crawford and Andre Ethier to fight for playing time in left field, with OF Scott Van Slyke a consideration against left-handed pitching. "Yasiel has established himself. 'Dre and Carl are fighting for playing time. Yasiel, he's turned into an RBI guy. He's more patient and getting better pitches to hit. In the long run, he's a 3-4-5 guy. He's showing he's that (Mike) Trout guy. He's shown he's moving in that direction," Mattingly said.
Fantasy Tip: Kemp should be owned in all leagues, but his owners may have been hesitant before to start him because of his slow start and inconsistent playing time. Faith in Kemp is renewed, and hopefully for his owners, it'll mean better production at the plate.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly has struggled with lineup decisions while trying to juggle the playing time of his outfielders between OFs Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford. Mattingly has often gone with statistical matchup history or righty/lefty preference when making the lineup. Puig is hitting .269, Kemp .218, Crawford .217 and Ethier .206, and Mattingly is unsure if that's the result of irregular playing time. He said "there will come a day" when there's "just a clearer picture" on who will start and who won't. OF Scott Van Slyke is also on roster and has hit .444 against lefties.
Fantasy Tip: If you own any of these outfielders, continue to check in daily to see if they are in the starting lineup. Ethier figured to be the odd-man out when Kemp returned from the disabled list, and he still might if the Dodgers decide to keep Kemp in there regularly. The other obvious solution would be for the team to trade one of the outfielders.

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford (undisclosed) left early in a minor league game Tuesday, March 18, for unknown reasons. It's not known if he was actually injured, but he was taken to the clubhouse on a cart, and sources are saying he may have injured his right shoulder. The Dodgers plan to update Crawford's condition later Tuesday from Australia. Crawford has not made the trip to Australia, because he will be put on paternity leave.
Fantasy Tip: This won't be a good start for the oft-injured Crawford if he's dealing with a serious ailment. Matt Kemp (ankle) won't be ready for the start of the year, either. Bump Andre Ethier up your draft boards slightly while keeping tabs on Crawford's status. Scott Van Slyke would receive some extra PT early in the year if Crawford isn't ready.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said OF Carl Crawford will not travel to Australia for the team's series against the Arizona Diamondbacks next weekend so that he can attend the birth of his third child.
Fantasy Tip: With Matt Kemp (ankle) and Crawford unavailable for the two-game series in Australia, OF Scott Van Slyke will likely get the starting nod for both games in left field. OF Mike Baxter and either OF Nick Buss or OF Joc Pederson are also expected to be on the roster, but these players carry very little fantasy value.

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said OF Andre Ethier (ankle) appears unlikely to receive any starts in the NLDS against the Atlanta Braves, although his ankle has improved to the point where he would be allowed to run "station to station" in certain game situations. Mattingly said OF Yasiel Puig would not be moved out of right field and if someone other than Skip Schumaker needs to play center field, it would be Scott Van Slyke rather than Ethier.

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Andre Ethier (ankle) worked out with the team Tuesday, Oct. 1, and is hoping to make the playoff roster for the National League Division Series as a pinch hitter and later get into a game in the outfield. "It's probably just a hitting role, that's what our best hope is," Ethier said after the workout. "Who knows, maybe we wake up Saturday and Sunday and it feels good enough to go full-go. Hitting-wise it feels good enough. We'll worry about what to do after I get on first base then. I just want to figure out a way to contribute anyway I can and not become a hindrance." He hit and threw Tuesday but didn't do any running. The team would like to see Ethier run before putting him on the roster. 2B Skip Schumaker will start in center field in Game 1 Thursday, Oct. 3, but SS Dee Gordon and OFs Scott Van Slyke and Jerry Hairston Jr. worked out there Tuesday.
