He looks like did preretirement," Barber said. "He really dedicated himself and has been in there working out for four months. The only thing he doesn't have is the on-field endurance. "It was an entertaining thought four or five years ago," Barber said. "I don't know how realistic it is now. New York Giants QB Eli Manning said during a radio interview that the team would likely welcome back free-agent WR Plaxico Burress (Giants) before free-agent RB Tiki Barber (Giants). "I think Plaxico would probably be welcomed back a little quicker," Manning said. Manning added Barber left the team on a bad note, while Burress has fond memories of the Super Bowl. Manning said he was effected by Barber's criticism as a broadcaster after he left the team, although the criticism may have helped him become more vocal as a leader.

Sports that New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin's control of the locker room is slipping and he may lose his job as a result, according to Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News. "Coach Coughlin is very hard-nosed, and I didn't get a lot of time off, couldn't sit down and rest myself, and so it was a constant grind -- a physical grind on me that started to take its toll," Barber said. "There'd be days where I couldn't move on Tuesday or Wednesday at practice, and he'd get mad at me for going half-speed.. And I told him, 'Coach, I can't do it. I'm gonna be out here, I'm never gonna miss a practice, but I can't give you what you want all the time.' And he understood."

The report claims Barber will work for both ABC News and ESPN. The agreement calls for him to work on both "Good Morning America" and 20/20. His role with ESPN is undefined, but he could be a candidate for "Monday Night Football" if Tony Kornheiser leaves the booth. Barber already appears Tuesdays on the news show "Fox and Friends" and was reportedly negotiation with FOX News to possibly expand his role.

Barber told Manning the team will be his soon and he should take the honors. According to players, Manning was much more passionate than fans and teammates had seen in the past during the session. "I'm only going to be here for a few more games so I thought he should start taking over now. It was great. The fans don't get to see that side of him but he was really, really passionate about it.
