New York Jets CB Antonio Cromartie said he is not happy with the possible trade of CB Darrelle Revis because he was looking forward to playing with him next season. "It's a disappointment," Cromartie said. "You look forward to playing with the best cornerback in the league. When you pair us to together, we felt like we had the best tandem. We had the best tandem. Now, he's leaving. You just got to roll with the punches."

The New York Jets have saved $11.5 million in salary cap space between CB Antonio Cromartie's restructure, WR Santonio Holmes' pay cut ($3.5 million) and the release of DT Sione Pouha. The team is now at $15.7 million under the cap.

The New York Jets restructured the contract of CB Antonio Cromartie Tuesday, March 12, according to a source. Cromartie's base salary is reducted from $7 million to $840,000, and he received an approximate signing bonus around $8.5 million.

New York Jets general manager John Idzik will approach a few players about restructuring their contracts. The most likely candidates are LB David Harris (team-high $13 million cap charge), WR Santonio Holmes ($12.5 million), CB Antonio Cromartie ($10.8 million), OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson ($10.7 million) and DT Sione Pouha ($6.2 million). QB Mark Sanchez ($12.9 million) could also be a candidate; however, it doesn't make sense to push his money into future years, considering his tenuous position on the team.

New York Jets CB Antonio Cromartie said the offense needs another playmaker, someone who can play alongside WR Santonio Holmes. "A lot of people look at our offense (and) they're not intimidated by our offense," Cromartie said. "We need some guys on the outside that can be game changers … It's going to help having Santonio (Holmes) back, but I think we need a true No. 2 guy also ready to go."

Some of the people in the New York Jets organization would rather trade CB Antonio Cromartie than CB Darrelle Revis. The Jets would clear $8.2 million in salary cap space if they traded Cromartie as opposed to eating cap space if they traded Revis.

New York Jets CB Antonio Cromartie said the team should not consider trading CB Darrelle Revis this offseason. "We can't lose a guy like him," Cromartie said. "(Revis is) a great leader in the locker room and also in our DB room, making sure that guys are accountable for each other. To lose a guy like that would be huge. And even though he's coming off the surgery, I believe he'll come back as strong as ever."
