Adam H. Beasley, of BaltimoreRavens.com, reports recently signed Baltimore Ravens PK Owen Pochman practiced with the team for the first time Tuesday, Aug. 16. Pochman, known for his strong leg, will compete with rookie free agent PK Rhys Lloyd for the Ravens' kickoff specialist job.

Bills | Pochman Hoping to Revive Career

Gregg Pastore, of BuffaloBills.com, reports Buffalo Bills PK Owen Pochman is hoping his stint in NFL Europe this spring will help revive his career. "I was out of football all last year and I've worked really hard on my form and the flaws that I had before to cause me to lose a job and be out of football for a year," Pochman said. "I'm hoping to go over to NFL Europe and show everybody I still have what it takes to become a successful kicker in the NFL." The Bills are Pochman's sixth NFL team.

San Francisco 49ers K Owen Pochman won a tryout Tuesday, Sept. 16, over free agent K Brett Conway to replace Jeff Chandler as kicker. The 49ers like Pochman's strong leg, as they deemed their difficulty on kickoffs more worrisome than Chandler's inconsistency on field goals.

Updating previous reports, the New York Post reports New York Giants head coach Jim Fassel said he wants to keep only one place kicker on roster when the season begins, which means there should be a heated battle in training camp. Fassel said he will not keep a kicker on roster to handle just kickoffs. The competition should be among PKs Mike Hollis, Matt Bryant, and possibly even Owen Pochman.

Giants.com's Michael Eisen reports New York Giants Coach Jim Fassel had this to say about PK Owen Pochman's (knee) recovery: "He's doing everything. I think he'll compete (for a job)." Asked if he wanted to bring in another kicker for training camp, Fassel said, "It wouldn't be a bad idea. I have confidence in PK Matt Bryant. I still have to find out about Pochman a little bit. Between the two of them, I think we'll get a kicker out of it. I think we have two legitimate candidates there."

He has been recovering well from knee surgery and has been working out at the stadium. The Giants could sign a veteran kicker, though, which might force Pochman out of the picture.

The Ap reports the New York Giants are still not sure PK Owen Pochman (knee) will be their kicker to start the season. "He has missed some field goals I want to see him make," coach Jim Fassel said of Pochman Friday. "Is that because of his health, or because he isn't kicking right? The bottom line is, it doesn't really matter. I want to see him be able to make those." Fassel would not tip his hand Friday, but he admitted he has "an ace in the hole" if he wanted to sign another veteran PK. The Giants have cap room to sign a veteran place-kicker, GM Ernie Accorsi said.

The Bergen Record reports New York Giants PK Owen Pochman struggled on kickoffs in the teams preseason opener this weekend. Pochman was penalized when one of his kickoffs went out of bounds. His first kick went to the 2-yard line, but was a line drive and was able to be returned to 24 yards. Another kickoff traveled to he 14-yard line, not giving the coverage team a chance to protect a long return. Pochman also missed a 37-yard field goal, but head coach Jim Fassel contributed it to a bad snap.

The New York Times reports New York Giants PK Owen Pochman, who has just two field goal attempts in his 10 game career in the NFL, will try to replace Morten Andersen as the Giants kicker this year. Pochman already said he realizes how it works, if you make your kicks, everybody is going to like you. The team has confidence in him at this time but head coach Jim Fassel noted he still has a lot to prove.

Pochman has been working with new special teams coach Bruce Read and said that working behind Morten Andersen last year helped him. The NY Times reports the New York Giants added rookie PK Owen Pochman yesterday as insurance for a sore Morten Andersen and also as their potential future kicker. "This was just an opportunity to acquire a player who can help protect and ensure our kicking situation presently and possibly for the future," Giants GM Ernie Accorsi said of Pochman. When the Giants return to practice today, Pochman will be in uniform and kicking. He might be needed in Denver if Andersen can't kick. He also might be around all season as a backup. Andersen expects to be ready to go Monday, but the Giants are taking no chances.

Paul Kenyon reports for the Providence Journal the New England Patriots rode a defensive safety and four FGs from rookie PK Owen Pochman to defeat the New York Giants 14-0. Backup QB Damon Huard had an impressive game for the Patriots completing 9 of 12 passes for 85 yards. Huard's game may have locked down the No. 2 QB slot for him just like coach Bill Belichick has said repeatedly during training camp. Pochman hit from 53, 23, 25 and 20. He also had a miss from 43-yards.

Dan Pires, of the New Bedford Standard-Times, has informed KFFL the New England Patriots have signed TEs Jabari Holloway, their fourth round draft pick, and Arther Love, their sixth round draft pick, and K Owen Pochman, their seventh round draft pick. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

The New England Patriots official site reports all 20 of the team's draft picks and undrafted free agents were at rookie mini-camp earlier today. Undrafted free agent DL Jeff Dyra is in for a tryout this weekend. Coach Bill Belichick ran an afternoon practice that focused mostly on individual work. Top draft pick DL Richard Seymour did mostly technique and agility work, but he showed quickness during the punt drills. Rookie PK Owen Pochman had impressive distance. He made field goals from 30, 43, 48 and 48 yards out. Rookie TE Jabari Holloway showed decent hands, but average speed, while rookie TE Arther Love moved better, but struggled to hold on to passes.

The Boston Herald reports PK Owen Pochman, drafted in the seventh round of Sunday's NFL Draft, will compete with incumbent PK Adam Vinatieri at the New England Patriots training camp in July. Coach Bill Belichick said the selection was not made to "send any messages."
