NFL.com reports Green Bay Packers CB Tramon Williams has not officially said he plans to hold out, but Williams' agent, Rodney Williams, indicated it is a possibility, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Rodney Williams said, "There is no way I can go back to my player and say, 'Hey, just play it out, it's OK, don't worry about it.' Hopefully, we can get something that shows a little value where he's at. That's all we're looking for."

CFL | Punter Williams released

Jonathan Huntington, of the Edmonton Sun, reports the Edmonton Eskimos, of the CFL, have released P Rodney Williams. The team has not announced the move yet, but Williams told the Sun he was released Sunday afternoon, July 2. Williams previously punted in the NFL with the New York Giants.

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Holmgren is starting to become concerned with the team's punters. Rodney Williams and Tom Rouen are battling for the job, but both were less than impressive in the team's latest pre-season game. Holmgren said the team is looking for consistency -- with that coming in the form of good consistency, not bad consistency.

Updating previous reports, according to Len Pasquarelli of ESPN.com, free agent P Matt Turk (Jets) is scheduled to visit with the Seattle Seahawks. If the coaches feel he still has something left, Turk could sign. This is apparently in response to the inconsistency of P Rodney Williams, who they signed after losing P Jeff Feagles to the New York Giants.

Giants.com reports New York Giants coach Jim Fassel said Sunday he is not sure if P Rodney Williams will keep his job. "That will still be determined," he said. ďI think he did some things. He had a 57-yard punt that didnít have the hang-time of a 57-yard ball. Again, it just scatters your coverage unit. Now, if we didnít cover real well, is that his fault? No. He didnít help the cause, but by getting our guys scattered, because the guy has his hands on the ball when we are not very far downfield. With that said, I think some of our coverage guys didnít do their jobs."

The New York Times reports New York Giants P Rodney Williams (wrist) may never regain full motion in the wrist he shattered last year, but he should be able to punt in training camp as long as he can withstand the pain of catching balls snapped from center. Williams has undergone multiple surgeries on his right wrist.

The NY Times reports New York Giants P Rodney Williams is doing better as he recovers from wrist surgery. He caught a football thrown from 10 yards away the other day and he noticed for the first time in months it did not cause him any pain. He broke his wrist in a mid-season game against Dallas and has had to undergo three operations, one of them during the season. He should be fine by the time the Giants open training camp in July.

The Bergen Record reports P Rodney Williams (wrist) will continue to play with a cast on his right wrist and will almost definitely need more surgery at season's end. Williams has muffed a punt in each of the last two games. One he dropped, and the other he failed to get off after a high snap.

The Star-Ledger reports New York Giants P Rodney Williams said he further injured his right wrist last Sunday. He said he will play Saturday against Arizona. Coach Jim Fassel said Williams saw a hand specialist and "is fine." DE Michael Strahan(neck) and LB Brandon Short (knee) were added to the injury report as probable.

The Star Ledger reports X-rays on New York Giants OT Lomas Brown's knee were negative. Brown left Sunday's game when his knee kept locking up, but he was able to return. He said he plans to practice this week and play this weekend. P Rodney Williams (wrist) will visit a specialist to make sure he hasn't reinjured his wrist on Sunday. Williams was sore on Monday. DT Cornelius Griffin (knee/back) was walking around without a limp on Monday and said he felt fine.

Giants.com's Michael Eisen reports New York Giants P Rodney Williams (wrist) believes he'll be able to play on Monday night against Minnesota. However, he doesn't think head coach Jim Fassel will let him. The Giants signed free agent P Gabe Lindstrom earlier this week to punt against the Vikings. Williams caught snaps and did a little kicking at practice on Thursday. RB Joe Montgomery (Achilles') didn't practice during the 21-day period for players on the PUP, so he's headed to injured reserve.

Michael Eisen reports for Giants.com P Rodney Williams underwent successful surgery to repair his fractured right wrist yesterday. Giants trainer Ronnie P. Barnes said the surgery was "very successful," and added that it is reasonable to think that Williams should be able to play with his wrist in a cast in two to three weeks.

Neil Best reports for NY Newsday New York Giants backup QB Jason Garrett is now holding for kicks by Morten Andersen. He replaced P Rodney Williams after the season opener. Apparently Andersen is more comfortable with him. Garrett hadn't done it since high school, save for one year in the CFL, but he has handled the job well.

The Bergen Record's Tara Sullivan reports as the season opener draws near, the New York Giants are more worried about their injury situation than they are about their talent. "I'm not concerned about the quality of this team. I'm very worried about the physical situation," GM Ernie Accorsi said Sunday. "This is a good football team as long as it stays healthy," Accorsi added. The team is basically the same as last season's Super Bowl team with a few exceptions, LB Brandon Short takes over for Ryan Phillips, DT Cornelius Griffin takes over for Christian Peter, DE Kenny Holmes replaces Cedric Jones, PK Morten Andersen replaces the Brad Daluiso/Jaret Holmes tandem, and P Rodney Williams replaces Brad Maynard. WR Ike Hilliard may be the biggest concern right now along with nagging injuries to WRs Amani Toomer and Joe Jurevicius.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports the San Diego Chargers held DE Marcellus Wiley out of Saturday night's game against the Dolphins because his hamstring was bothering him. The team also suffered a few injuries during the game as DT Jamal Williams sprained his knee and could be sidelined 2-3 weeks. However, he expects to return to practice this week. CB Alex Molden (groin), WR Rodney Williams (hip Flexor) and Dequincy Scott (back pain) all suffered minor injuries. LB Gerald Dixon also didn't play after suffering a minor knee injury on Thursday.

Chargers.com reports San Diego Chargers TE Freddie Jones sat out of practice during Sunday's mini-camp because he hurt his toe during previous workouts. WR Rodney Williams suffered a knee injury on Sunday morning but the team's trainers don't believe it's serious. P Darren Bennett, WR Tim Dwight and C Roman Fortin did not take part in mini-camp as they're recovering from minor injuries. DL Michael Mohring also missed most of the mini-camp work due to injury.
