Yankees | Chase Headley returns to lineup

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 13:34:57 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley (personal) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting fifth against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner Friday, July 22.

Fantasy Tip: Headley missed the last two games for personal reasons. His modest contributions (.251-9-30) play better in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, and he should be avoided in DFS against the MadBum tonight.

Yankees | Chase Headley out Thursday

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 08:11:32 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley (personal) is out of the lineup again Thursday, July 21, and 3B Alex Rodriguez is hitting seventh. 3B Ronald Torreyes is hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: A-Rod has struggled all year, but he is hitting .368 with five homers in 19 career at-bats against Chris Tillman. He's worth a speculative flyer today. Torreyes is hitting just .224 and warrants little consideration.

Yankees | Chase Headley out for personal reasons

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 14:35:04 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley has been excused from the lineup Wednesday, July 20, for personal reasons. He'll be with the team Wednesday, though. 2B Ronald Torreyes is starting at third base in Headley's absence.

Fantasy Tip: Headley doesn't do anything particularly well in any one category with a .252 average, nine home runs and 30 RBI, so you should only employ him in AL-only leagues. Torreyes is hitting just .219 with no homers and five RBI in 64 at-bats and has zero fantasy upside.

Yankees | Chase Headley swats two-run HR

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 22:58:38 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run Tuesday, July 5, against the Chicago White Sox. He has just seven homers and 25 RBIs on the season, but he has a pair of two-run homers in the past two games.

Fantasy Tip: Headley has picked up the pace and is looking like a decent play in AL-only fantasy leagues again, but with a .254 average he still cannot be trusted in most mixed formats.

Yankees | Carlos Beltran, Chase Headley sitting

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 13:02:21 -0700

New York Yankees OF Carlos Beltran and 3B Chase Headley are not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner Sunday, July 3. OF Aaron Hicks will start in right field and is batting seventh, while 3B Ronald Torreyes will start at third base and is batting eighth. 3B Alex Rodriguez is also out of the lineup because the team can't use a designated in National League stadiums.

Fantasy Tip: Hicks has only one hit in his last 22 at-bats and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues. Torreyes is hitting only .237 with five RBI this season and is not a strong option in any league.

Yankees | Chase Headley swats grand slam

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 16:32:08 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley went 1-for-3 with a grand slam Wednesday, June 22, against the Colorado Rockies. It was his fourth home run of the season, and the 32-year-old finished with a run scored and four RBI for the day.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the encouraging game, Headley has been one of the most disappointing third basemen in all of fantasy baseball this season, and his struggles haven't gone away. In fact, the grand slam today was just his first long ball of June, and he also drove in more runs this afternoon than he did previously for the entire month.

Yankees | Chase Headley, Rob Refsnyder out

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 14:00:22 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley and 2B Rob Refsnyder are not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver Wednesday, June 8. 1B Chris Parmelee will start at first base and is batting eighth, while INF Ronald Torreyes will start at third base and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Parmelee has not receive any at-bats since joining the team, so owners should avoid him for the time being. Torreyes is hitting .269 in limited playing time this season but is not a great fantasy option.

Yankees | Brian McCann, Brett Gardner starting

Sun, 29 May 2016 08:07:30 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann and OF Brett Gardner are back in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi Sunday, May 29, while 3B Chase Headley and OF Carlos Beltran (shoulder) are receiving the day off. OF Aaron Hicks will play right field and bat seventh, while INF Ronald Torreyes will play third base and bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Hicks is just 7-for-45 (.156) away from Yankee Stadium this season but Torreyes could be worth taking a flier on in daily contests because of his .407 mark (11-for-27) on the road.

Yankees | Several Yanks regulars resting Saturday

Sat, 21 May 2016 11:12:29 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann, OF Brett Gardner and SS Did Gregarious are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Sean Manaea Saturday, May 21. OF Aaron Hicks will bat sixth and play left field, 2B/OF Rob Refsnyder will play right field and bat seventh and C Austin Romine will start behind the plate and bat eighth. In addition, 3B Chase Headley is back in the starting lineup to play the hot corner and will bat fifth, while INF Ronald Torreyes bats ninth and plays shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Of the replacements, Refsnyder is the player with the most offensive upside for DFS purposes. The 25-year-old hit .302 with two home runs and five RBI in 43 at-bats last season and was hitting .293 through 34 games for Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this year.

Yankees | Birthday good to Chase Headley

Sun, 15 May 2016 15:42:06 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley has gone 7-for-20 since turning 32 years old, including a pinch-hit double Sunday, May 15, in a 7-5 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Fantasy Tip: Headley is showing some signs of warming up, but the hard fact is his batting average is still .200 and his on-base and slugging numbers are below .300. Headley just hasn't put together the solid season of one year ago, but there is still time to put something solid out there. Until then, keep Headley on your bench.
