Yankees | Chase Headley back in action

Wed, 06 May 2015 19:57:29 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley (back) returned to the lineup Wednesday, May 6, against the Toronto Blue Jays after missing a game due to a sore lower back.

Fantasy Tip: Headley was hitless in four at-bats, dropping his season average to .238. He has some power potential, but at this low average FantasyScore players probably want to avoid him at $3,600 (or 7.2% of cap) until he starts to show more consistency.

Yankees | Chase Headley sitting Tuesday

Tue, 05 May 2015 14:14:40 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Chase Headley is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 5. SS Gregorio Petit is starting at the hot corner and hitting ninth in the batting order against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada.

Fantasy Tip: Petit ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has just six hits in 31 at-bats (.194) in backup duty for the Yanks this year, and this light-hitting utility infielder should be ignored everywhere.

Yankees | Alex Rodriguez starting at 3B

Mon, 13 Apr 2015 16:34:09 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez is starting at third base for the first time this year Monday, April 13, to help give 3B Chase Headley a day off. Manager Joe Girardi said Rodriguez will also play first base this year, and Rodriguez is expected to have one of the next two days off.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has looked good so far this year, hitting .300 (6-for-20 with a home run and six RBI). Against left-handers tonight like Wei-Yin Chen, Rodriguez is a fairly strong daily game play while he continues to show good plate discipline and an ability to turn around fastballs.

Yankees | Alex Rodriguez must earn PT

Fri, 20 Feb 2015 10:38:03 -0800

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez will have to earn his playing time this year, according to manager Joe Girardi. Rodriguez is coming off a season-long suspension for performance-enhancing drugs in 2014. 3B Chase Headley has already been named the starting third baseman, so Rodriguez will have to find the majority of his at-bats at designated hitter. Girardi is expecting to play Rodriguez a lot this spring, and the team might even send him to the minor league camp to receive more at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: A-Rod will be one of this spring's biggest storylines. Fantasy players could care less, but they do want to know how he'll bounce back from a year off. That's really anyone's guess, but Rodriguez is a professional hitter and should still have some utility left for owners at the end of mixed league drafts.
