Barring another transaction, they will be spelled by INF Jake Elmore, who has played in only 30 career games, at the position. "Whenever opportunity knocks, sometimes the real player really shows up," first-year manager Bo Porter said. "So we're hoping that one of those guys grabs the bull by the horns and takes charge of the shortstop position." Gonzalez is a switch hitter who is more comfortable from the left side, so he will make a nice platoon option with Greene, and Gonzalez presents the team with better defense.
