Wed, 15 May 2013 13:20:34 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera's (quadriceps, hamstring) MRI exam showed irritation in his right quadriceps and left hamstring, and he'll continue to play based on his pain tolerance. Fantasy Tip: This is good news for the Blue Jays unless Cabrera suffers some sort of setback. Expect John Gibbons to rest him frequently in the coming days and weeks to keep him healthy.
Tue, 14 May 2013 12:49:47 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera (legs) will undergo an MRI exam on his legs Wednesday, May 15, to make sure he's not dealing with a major injury. He has been dealing with tightness in his hamstrings. Fantasy Tip: With Rajai Davis (oblique) on the disabled list, Emilio Bonifacio will shift to the outfield to replace Cabrera. Bonifacio would become a decent addition to deep mixed rosters if Cabrera's injury keeps him out for extended time. Toronto could also choose to recall Anthony Gose or Moises Sierra in that case.
Sun, 12 May 2013 14:46:09 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera (hamstring) has been dealing with hamsting issues but has not missed a game at this point. The injuries have affected his range in the outfield and his ability to run the bases. Cabrera said he is feeling better and wants to be in the lineup every day. Fantasy Tip: Cabrera has performed fairly well this season but there is a chance that he may need to spend some time on the disabled list at some point this season because of his hamstrings. Owners should keep Cabrera in their lineups as long as he is playing nearly every day.
Sat, 04 May 2013 18:47:18 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera (legs) was the designated hitter in the team's game Saturday, May 4, because he is dealing with soreness in both of his legs. The soreness is not believed to be serious and it is not believed to be caused by playing on the artificial turf in Toronto.
Wed, 06 Feb 2013 10:42:21 -0800 Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said he isn't concerned about the chances of OF Melky Cabrera being disciplined after being involved in more performance-enhancing drug allegations. "It's not news for us. With a report like that, the concern for any club, I would say, is if there was a player that hadn't had any suspensions and that it was a new name," Anthopoulos said. "From that standpoint, it's exactly the same as what we knew before we signed him."
Sat, 02 Feb 2013 16:13:51 -0800 Toronto Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera will not play for the Dominican Republic in the 2013 World Baseball Classic because he wants to focus on spring training.
Thu, 31 Jan 2013 09:15:45 -0800 The evidence given in Miami New Times linking New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez and others to the BioGenesis clinic in Florida is not enough for Major League Baseball to hand out suspension. MLB can discipline players without a positive test if there is a preponderance of evidence that the specific person doped or tried to dope. The ledgers that connect Rodriguez and the others to the clinic would have to be sworn to under oath by someone with direct knowledge of them, and Anthony Bosch has denied any wrongdoing in this situation. MLB would need a witness or some sort of documentation to suspend Rodriguez, Toronto Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera, Oakland Athletics SP Bartolo Colon, Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez, San Diego Padres C Yasmani Grandal or Texas Rangers OF Nelson Cruz. Cabrera, Colon and Grandal were each suspended 50 games last season after testing positive, and they would each face a second, 100-game ban if the league can establish that they used performance-enhancing drugs on other occasions.
Tue, 29 Jan 2013 05:50:52 -0800 Evidence has been discovered that the following players were sold performance-enhancing drugs from an anti-aging clinic in Miami called Biogenesis: New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez, Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez, Texas Rangers OF Nelson Cruz, Toronto Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera, Detroit Tigers SP Cesar Carrillo, Oakland Athletics SP Bartolo Colon and San Diego Padres C Yasmani Grandal. Fantasy Tip: Some of the details aren't clear whether the players actually received or used banned substances. It's unclear whether any suspensions will or can be handed out. Losing Gonzalez or Cruz for 50 games would have significant fantasy implications. Stay tuned to this story, which should be a prevalent one for weeks to come.
Thu, 17 Jan 2013 14:34:20 -0800 Toronto Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera will suit up for the Dominican Republic in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.
Tue, 20 Nov 2012 11:25:31 -0800 Toronto Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera will make $8 million in each of the next two years. New manager John Gibbons sees Cabrera hitting second in the lineup next season.
