Minnesota Twins RP Joel Zumaya will make $850,000 this year, but is only guaranteed $400,000. He can make a total of $1.8 million if he reaches his incentives; he can make $50,000 for pitching in 30 games, $50,000 for 35 games, $100,000 for 40 games, $125,000 for 45 games, $150,000 for 50 games, $200,000 for 55 games and $250,000 for 60 games. If he pitches in more than 60 games, he'll make an extra $900,000. He can also make $25,000 for being an All-Star, $50,000 for the ALCS MVP and $100,000 for the World Series MVP.

Minnesota Twins RP Joel Zumaya could share the setup duties with RP Glen Perkins this year. RP Matt Capps will serve as the Twins' closer. "We think (Zumaya) and Perkins will be pretty good," general manager Terry Ryan said. "That's what we were looking for." Zumaya can earn up to $1.7 million this season if he pitches in 60 games.

Minnesota Twins RP Joel Zumaya said he is confident that he can hit 100 mph on the radar gun again this season. However, he has been focusing more on his offspeed pitches - his curveball and changeup. Zumaya said Thursday, Jan. 19, that he feels "great" and "healthy."

The Minnesota Twins have agreed to terms with free-agent RP Joel Zumaya (Tigers). He could receive anywhere from $800,000 to $1.7 million if he reaches incentives. Zumaya said he received "good offers" from three other teams but decided to accept Minnesota's offer because it included guaranteed money, as opposed to a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training.

The Texas Rangers are taking a look at free-agent RP Joel Zumaya (Tigers). Rangers general manager Jon Daniels had not had a chance to review Zumaya with the pro scouting staff. About 20 teams attended Zumaya's workout recently.

Free-agent RP Joel Zumaya (Tigers) threw for teams in Texas Wednesday, Dec. 14, and more than 50 scouts were on hand to see him. One scout said Zumaya was throwing 93-96 mph and had a decent curveball.
