Arizona Diamondbacks INF Eric Hinske has been suspended for five games for leaving the dugout and his aggressive actions during the incidents in his team's game on Tuesday, June 11, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Manager Kirk Gibson has been suspended for one game for the intentional actions of SP Ian Kennedy in that contest after a warning had been issued. Gibson is scheduled to serve his suspension on Friday, June 14.

Also, C Miguel Montero and OF Gerardo Parra were fined undisclosed amounts. All player discipline is subject to appeal.

The Diamondbacks will not be allowed to have players who are on the DL to sit in their dugout for their games throughout this coming weekend. Those players may return to their benches on Monday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Phew. Thankfully, for fantasy owners, Montero and Parra escaped without suspensions. The rest of this is inconsequential for fantasy purposes, essentially. The Dodgers had players who are on the DL leave the dugout, not the Snakes, but so be it.

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson indicated Wednesday, April 3, that he has no plans to rest C Miguel Montero, as the team has three scheduled off days in the next 12 days. "He caught 136 games last year and he wants to catch more this year," Gibson said. "He's an elite catcher and a day off now is not going to matter in August when it's hot out and we're traveling all over."

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners like to hear this. It appears safe to leave Montero in the active lineup in all weekly formats, and those in daily leagues can also just set it and forget it for a while.

Arizona Diamondbacks C Miguel Montero said in a radio interview Monday, Feb. 11, that Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer never wanted to listen last year when the two were batterymates. "Since Day 1 of spring training I caught him and he killed me because he threw about 100 pitches the first day," Montero said. "After the first bullpen, we talked and I said if you throw your fastball and go to the breaking ball it will help you have better location and you'll establish your fastball. He said yes and the next time he did the same thing. He never wanted to listen. It's not like he wants to learn. He's got his way and it's tough to change it. Good luck, (C Carlos Santana)."

Arizona Diamondbacks SP Miguel Montero said Friday, July 9, that he plans on sitting with SP Trevor Bauer to talk things over so they can be on the same page in future starts. Bauer repeatedly shook Montero off in his last start Tuesday, July 3. "He hasn't come to me, so I guess I have to go to him," Montero said. "I understand he pitches his way, but at the same time we need to have a plan. If the guy's a good fastball hitter, yeah, you can throw the fastball, but where? It's just things we need to talk (about). We need to have a little game plan."

Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Ryan Roberts hit an inside-the-park homer, OF Justin Upton clubbed a three-run job and 2B Aaron Hill went deep for the third straight game Wednesday, June 20. C Miguel Montero, OF Jason Kubel and SS John McDonald also hit homers in the winning effort. Upton's homer was his first since May 23. Hill extended his home hitting streak to 13 games, and he became the first player in team history to hit a homer and a double in three straight games.
