Rockies | Gerardo Parra set for starting job

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 14:23:12 -0800

Colorado Rockies OF Gerardo Parra will be left with a starting spot to win in the outfield after the Rockies traded OF Corey Dickerson to the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday, Jan. 28. Parra can play left with OF Charlie Blackmon in center field and OF Carlos Gonzalez in right. OF Brandon Barnes will be the fourth outfielder and fill in everywhere.

Fantasy Tip: Parra had career highs in batting average (.291), home runs (14) and runs (83) last year with the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles. Coors Field was the best possible landing spot for him, and now he's in a starting role. He could improve on his solid 2015 season with the Rockies, and he should be a target in the later rounds of all mixed leagues.

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 17:12:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, Colorado Rockies OF Brandon Barnes (hamstring) could miss the remainder of the regular season after suffering a strained left hamstring Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Barnes ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) can be dropped in all fantasy formats. Kyle Parker ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) could receive increased playing time in left field but he is only batting .163 this season and is not a great FantasyScore option.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon out with stiff neck

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 16:13:19 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon (neck) was a late scratch due to a stuff neck Wednesday, Sept. 23. OF Brandon Barnes replaces Blackmon in center field, and Barnes is batting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Charlie Morton Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to replace Blackmon ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) in your lineups in all fantasy formats, especially at FantasyScore. Barnes ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is a potential flier for daily contests Wednesday, but it is worth noting, he only owns a .395 slugging percentage at Coors Field this season. You should be able to find more upside around his salary at FantasyScore Wednesday.

Rockies | Three Rockies regulars out

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 15:47:55 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Jose Reyes, OF Corey Dickerson and 1B Justin Morneau are not in the lineup against Pittsburgh Pirates left-handed SP J.A. Happ Tuesday, Sept. 22. SS Cristhian Adames is starting at the 6 and hitting second, OF Brandon Barnes is starting in left field and hitting eighth, while C Wilin Rosario is starting at first base and batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Happ has been tough on all teams since being traded to the Pirates, but he'll face a new challenge entirely at hitter-friendly Coors Field. Still, Adames ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) and Barnes ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) remain nothing more than desperation flier picks for salary cap relief. Rosario ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has slightly a little more intrigue as a deep sleeper.

He fouled a ball off his foot Tuesday, Sept. 15, so you'll want check back for an official update on the severity of his injury. Barnes ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is nothing more than a low-priced flier at FantasyScore Wednesday. He has a .595 OPS over 100 at-bats since the All-Star break.

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is not in the starting lineup Monday, Sept. 14. OF Brandon Barnes is starting in center field and batting eighth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw Monday.

Fantasy Tip: It isn't an ideal spot to plug Rockies hitters into your fantasy lineups Monday, especially at FantasyScore. Kershaw ($9,900, 19.8% of cap) presents an incredibly difficult matchup. View Barnes ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) as nothing more than a desperation flier for daily contests Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Blackmon ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) hasn't hit for much power this month, only batting .250 with one RBI through 48 at-bats. Better outfield options can be found in FantasyScore this afternoon for a similar or lower price.

Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez is not in the starting lineup against San Diego Padres SP Ian Kennedy Monday, Sept. 7. OF Brandon Barnes will start in right field and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) should be back in the lineup for the next game. Barnes ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has only three hits in his last eight games and is not the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

Rockies | Charlie Blackmon out of lineup

Sun, 06 Sep 2015 13:01:44 -0700

Colorado Rockies OF Charlie Blackmon is not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner Sunday, Sept. 6. OF Brandon Barnes will bat eighth and play center field.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Blackmon ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) from all fantasy lineups. Barnes ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is 1-for-7 over the past week and is just 5-for-22 versus Bumgarner in his career, so he should be avoided in FantasyScore.
