"No one goes into the NFL wanting to be a backup, but I don't have a timetable for starting," Tait said. "Sure, I want to start as soon as I'm ready, as soon as I can. But if I'm not there in the first week, it won't break my heart or make me feel like I've failed. I just want to be ready enough to be part of their (long-term) plans." "This is a good situation for a rookie, and I like it," said Chiefs coach Gunther Cunningham. "The older players have respect for him, and he has respect for the game. He knows what he has to do, and we admire how he's going about it. He knows what's going to happen down the road, and he's working towards that goal."
