Mon, 17 Jun 2013 15:13:31 -0700 The Philadelphia Phillies officially activated SP John Lannan (knee) from the 15-day disabled list Monday, June 17.
Thu, 13 Jun 2013 13:14:49 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) is scheduled to be the starting pitcher Monday, June 17.
Thu, 06 Jun 2013 14:46:17 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) will begin his rehab assignment by starting for Single-A Clearwater Thursday, June 6. Fantasy Tip: Lannan will probably need a handful of starts in the minors before he's deemed ready to join the major league club. Once he's ready, he could replace either Tyler Cloyd or Jonathan Pettibone in the starting rotation.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 15:48:44 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) is likely to need more than the original eight weeks prescribed back on April 18 for his recovery. It's unknown if he'll head to extended spring training or on an official rehab assignment Thursday, June 6. Fantasy Tip: Lannan will be an option to replace either Tyler Cloyd or Jonathan Pettibone in the starting rotation once he's healthy. Lannan hasn't had tremendous success in the majors ever, though, making him a less-than-intriguing option in mixed leagues.
Wed, 29 May 2013 15:28:09 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) faced hitters during a simulated game Wednesday, May 29, and will pitch in extended spring training once more before going on a minor league rehab assignment June 6. SP Carlos Zambrano, who pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings with Single-A Clearwater Tuesday, May 28, will need at least three more starts before being considered for the major league roster. The team has been lukewarm on the reports of Zambrano. He can request his release by July 1 if he's not on the major league roster. Fantasy Tip: Tyler Cloyd has struggled of late, so Lannan and Zambrano are knocking at the door if those struggles continue. Lannan is the more realistic option once he's healthy, but neither he nor Zambrano will be key pieces for mixed league rosters.
Sat, 18 May 2013 13:48:23 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) threw a bullpen session Saturday, May 18, and did not report any problems. He is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Monday, May 20.
Fri, 17 May 2013 15:46:57 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP Carlos Zambrano will pitch two innings at extended spring training Saturday, May 18, and pitch every five days thereafter. SP John Lannan (knee) will throw a bullpen session early next week and is "closer, but he's not close" to coming back. Fantasy Tip: Both Zambrano and Lannan could become options to take Roy Halladay's (shoulder) spot in the rotation with him out indefinitely. Both hurlers are dart throws in NL-only leagues if you're desperate.
Wed, 08 May 2013 13:32:41 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP Tyler Cloyd, who will take the rotation spot of SP Roy Halladay (shoulder) and start Friday, May 10, isn't guaranteed to stick around in the rotation for long, according to general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. SP John Lannan (knee) is weeks away from returning and could be an option to replace Cloyd. The Phillies will also consider arms outside the organization. Fantasy Tip: Neither Cloyd nor Lannan are very intriguing options for fantasy baseball purposes, but they carry enough value with a rotation spot to be considered in NL-only leagues. Lannan obviously has more major league experience, so expect Philly to give him a spot when he's healthy, unless Cloyd has earned to stay in the role or the team acquires a pitcher from outside the organization.
Sat, 20 Apr 2013 11:37:43 -0700 The Philadelphia Phillies have not yet named a starter for their game against the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday, April 22. It would have been SP John Lannan's (knee) spot in the rotation but he will be sidelined six to eight weeks because of a left knee injury.
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 13:52:04 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) was put on the 15-day disabled list with a strained quadriceps tendon in his left knee Thursday, April 18. Fantasy Tip: It looks like Lannan will be out for a couple months, at least. You can safely drop him in most mixed formats in search of healthy starters.
