Sat, 18 May 2013 13:48:23 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) threw a bullpen session Saturday, May 18, and did not report any problems. He is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Monday, May 20.
Fri, 17 May 2013 15:46:57 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP Carlos Zambrano will pitch two innings at extended spring training Saturday, May 18, and pitch every five days thereafter. SP John Lannan (knee) will throw a bullpen session early next week and is "closer, but he's not close" to coming back. Fantasy Tip: Both Zambrano and Lannan could become options to take Roy Halladay's (shoulder) spot in the rotation with him out indefinitely. Both hurlers are dart throws in NL-only leagues if you're desperate.
Wed, 08 May 2013 13:32:41 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP Tyler Cloyd, who will take the rotation spot of SP Roy Halladay (shoulder) and start Friday, May 10, isn't guaranteed to stick around in the rotation for long, according to general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. SP John Lannan (knee) is weeks away from returning and could be an option to replace Cloyd. The Phillies will also consider arms outside the organization. Fantasy Tip: Neither Cloyd nor Lannan are very intriguing options for fantasy baseball purposes, but they carry enough value with a rotation spot to be considered in NL-only leagues. Lannan obviously has more major league experience, so expect Philly to give him a spot when he's healthy, unless Cloyd has earned to stay in the role or the team acquires a pitcher from outside the organization.
Sat, 20 Apr 2013 11:37:43 -0700 The Philadelphia Phillies have not yet named a starter for their game against the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday, April 22. It would have been SP John Lannan's (knee) spot in the rotation but he will be sidelined six to eight weeks because of a left knee injury.
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 13:52:04 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) was put on the 15-day disabled list with a strained quadriceps tendon in his left knee Thursday, April 18. Fantasy Tip: It looks like Lannan will be out for a couple months, at least. You can safely drop him in most mixed formats in search of healthy starters.
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 13:46:39 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said it's possible that SP John Lannan (knee) will miss six to eight weeks. Fantasy Tip: The Phils have yet to bring up a starter to replace Lannan in the No. 5 rotation spot, but there's a good chance it will be Tyler Cloyd, who's currently with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Adam Morgan could be another candidate as well. Whoever fills the rotation spot should be strictly NL-only fodder.
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 12:34:09 -0700 The Philadelphia Phillies placed SP John Lannan (knee) on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, April 18. Fantasy Tip: It's currently unclear who will take the No. 5 starting rotation spot in Lannan's absence. Tyler Cloyd or veteran Rodrigo Lopez might make the most sense, but Adam Morgan, Jonathan Pettibone and Ethan Martin could all get the nod if Lannan isn't expected to miss more than two weeks. None of these options peak interest in mixed leagues, however.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 20:36:24 -0700 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan (knee) experienced discomfort in his left knee during his start Wednesday, April 17, against the Cincinnati Reds. He will see a team doctor Thursday, April 18.
Tue, 19 Feb 2013 21:33:09 -0800 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan is considered the favorite for the fifth starter spot, and pitching coach Rich Dubee talks like Lannan already has the job.
Tue, 18 Dec 2012 11:48:38 -0800 Philadelphia Phillies SP John Lannan can make an extra $200,000 each for 150, 160, 170, 180 and 190 innings, $250,000 each for 200 and 210 innings and $250,000 for 31-34 starts as part of his one-year, $2.5 million deal.
