The Milwaukee Brewers placed SP Marco Estrada (quadriceps) on the 15-day disabled list with a right quadriceps strain Thursday, May 24. They will recall P Mike McClendon from Triple-A Nashville Friday, May 25.

Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said the team anticipates SP Marco Estrada (quadriceps) to miss three or four starts. Ps Wily Peralta, Manny Parra and Tyler Thornburg are being considered for his rotation spot.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Chris Narveson (shoulder) will undergo surgery to fix his torn rotator cuff in his pitching shoulder, and he'll miss the rest of the season. He will need six to nine months of recovery time. SP Marco Estrada will stick in the rotation for now.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said he was impressed with the performance of SP Marco Estrada against the Colorado Rockies Saturday, April 21, and added that he would remain the team's fifth starter while SP Chris Narveson (shoulder) was on the disabled list. Estrada allowed one run on two hits over five innings Saturday, with no walks and a career-high nine strikeouts.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke acknowledged that SP Shaun Marcum (shoulder) could miss his first start of the regular season. Marcum threw his second bullpen Friday, March 16, and he'll progress to live batting practice Sunday, March 18. SP Marco Estrada could fill in for Marcum in the rotation if he misses time. "We may. The days are getting short. If Marcum stays on schedule, his pitch count would not be up there that high again (as last spring, when he fell behind). He can pitch that way and he can give us whatever it's going to be - five or six innings." Roenicke would be more comfortable with Marcum if he can make three spring starts before opening day.
