San Francisco Giants RP Sergio Romo has been removed from the closer role, according to manager Bruce Bochy. RPs Santiago Casilla and Jeremy Affeldt will share closing duties for the immediate future. Romo is expected to pitch in the seventh and eighth innings for the time being, and there is a possibility he could regain his old job down the line.
Fantasy Tip: Casilla and Affeldt should be added immediately in all fantasy leagues. Romo is 0-3 with a 10.64 ERA in his last 12 appearances and has blown five saves this season. He has allowed six home runs this year (tying a career high) and opponents were hitting .455 against him in his last five games, taking advantage of an ineffective slider. That being said, it might be worth it to hang on to Romo if he proves he can turn things around and reclaim the closer's job.

San Francisco Giants RP Sergio Romo's job security is in doubt after Giants manager Bruce Bochy said a change at closer would be discussed. Romo blew his fifth save of the season Saturday, June 28, in a 7-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. He gave up a two-run home run after issuing a walk, and Romo's season-long ERA climbed to 5.17.
Fantasy Tip: RP Santiago Casilla should be acquired immediately, if you haven't already taken this proactive step.

San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy met with CL Sergio Romo after his two blown saves over the weekend and Romo's day off Sunday, June 15. Bochy said Romo is still his closer, and the two chalked up the blown saves to bad luck.
Fantasy Tip: Romo had been pretty good until recently. Hopefully the reassurance will help get him back on track. It's a good idea to handcuff him with Santiago Casilla

San Francisco Giants RP Sergio Romo blew the save Saturday, June 14, against the Colorado Rockies, his second in as many nights. It is the first time in his career he has blown back-to-back chances.
Fantasy Tip: While Romo's ERA has skyrocketed to 5.08 over the past two days, it is uncertain if the club is thinking about making a change in the ninth inning. And, if they were to consider a chance, there is really no clear-cut choice to take the reins. For now, fantasy owners should still feel confident Romo will hang onto the job, but he cannot afford many more hiccups.

San Francisco Giants CL Sergio Romo, who had an abysmal spring, has converted his first four save chances this season. He has a 1.29 ERA, a 0.57 WHIP and nine strikeouts in seven innings.
Fantasy Tip: Romo is iffy for Thursday, April 17, because he has pitched in three of the last four days. Two of those outings lasted just 10 and 11 pitches, so he may be able to pitch if called upon.
