Blue Jays | Casey Janssen activated from disabled list

Sun, 11 May 2014 10:02:03 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays have activated RP Casey Janssen (back) from the 15-day disabled list. In a corresponding move, 2B Chris Getz has been designated for assignment.

Fantasy Tip: Janssen will step into the closer's role right away, so activate him immediately in all leagues. RPs Aaron Loup and Steve Delabar will serve as set-up men, with RP Sergio Santos working in low-pressure situations for the foreseeable future.

Blue Jays | Chris Getz coming up

Mon, 28 Apr 2014 16:06:39 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays will recall 2B Chris Getz from Triple-A Buffalo.

Fantasy Tip: Getz will effectively replace Ryan Goins as Toronto's starting second baseman. Inconsistent playing time hurt the contact-happy Getz in Kansas City. He doesn't have much power to speak of, but if he can get on base enough, his speed will make him a valuable middle infield piece in AL leagues.

Blue Jays | Jose Reyes set for more tests

Mon, 24 Mar 2014 10:59:04 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Jose Reyes (hamstring) is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam Monday, March 24, on his tight left hamstring. He was initially listed as day-to-day, but the tightness in his leg hasn't gone away. Reyes went on the disabled list twice in 2011 for a similar hamstring injury. If Reyes needs to go on the DL to start the year, the team will likely choose from INFs Chris Getz, Jonathan Diaz or Munenori Kawasaki in a backup role at shortstop behind 2B Ryan Goins, who would move over from second base.

Fantasy Tip: Have a backup plan at SS in place if you own Reyes. It's disturbing that Reyes is already dealing with leg issues, but we'll have to wait to hear the extent of his injury. Check back for more news.
