Thu, 22 Dec 2011 07:10:18 -0800 Former New York Giants DL Michael Strahan said New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan's act of talking too much is becoming old. According to Strahan, Ryan is on the verge of becoming a joke in his own locker room. "It's a fine line whenever you have to talk that much," Strahan said. "Once it kind of seems like a joke, it becomes a joke to your own players." Strahan added, "If I have to walk into a room and tell you how bad I am, I'm probably not that bad. If I'm comfortable in my own skin, I shouldn't have to convince people of my words. That's the whole thing with Rex I look at. At some point, you just look and go 'enough is enough.'"
Fri, 26 Dec 2008 05:32:23 -0800 Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports St. Louis Rams DL La'Roi Glover (knee) will need offseason knee surgery to repair torn cartilage and is considering retirement. "I don't know yet. I really don't," Glover said when asked if he wanted to keep playing beyond this season. "We'll get the last (game) going, try to win it, take a break. See how the family's feeling. Talk to my wife about it, and go from there." However, Glover has thought about retirement enough that he has talked to other players about it. "I talked (Saturday) to a guy who was retired about trying to go out like a Michael Strahan or a Jerome Bettis," Glover said.

Tue, 26 Aug 2008 14:54:27 -0700 Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports retired DE Michael Strahan has decided to turn down the New York Giants' offer to play this season. "This has been one of the toughest nights of my life. But after long deliberation and throwing around a million scenarios in my head for the past day, I think it's just best if I stay retired. I have gone back and forth on this because as a player you'll always want to play, you'll never lose that urge to be out there. But I could only do this if I could commit 100 percent, physically, mentally, emotionally and I can't do that. I've tried to convince myself and my body to give it one more year, but in the end I just don't think I could turn it on like I need to again," Strahan said.
Tue, 26 Aug 2008 14:47:16 -0700 Kate Coscarelli, of The Star-Ledger, reports a state appeals court ruled Tuesday, Aug. 26, former New York Giants DL Michael Strahan should not have to pay $18,000 in child support for his twin daughters, doesn't need to take out a multi-million dollar disability insurance policy or pay for his ex-wife's lawyer. A three-judge panel said since Strahan had retired, the insurance policy wasn't necessary. The judges also felt it was unfair Strahan was required to pay 91 percent of the child support when his ex-wife, Jean Strahan, was well-educated and employable. The panel ordered the trial judge in Essex County to reconsider the child support to determine what needs the children have that are distinct from their mother.

Mon, 25 Aug 2008 07:19:32 -0700 ESPN.com reports retired DL Michael Strahan would consider returning to the New York Giants this season after DL Osi Umenyiora (knee) suffered a season-ending knee injury, according to the New York Daily News, citing an unnamed source. According to the report, Strahan would come out of retirement if the team offered him an $8 million contract for this season, according to a source close to Strahan. Strahan currently holds a position as an analyst for FOX Sports. "If the Giants make a sincere overture, it's a good chance that Strahan would consider coming back," the source said. "There are other things he has to take into consideration: the money and his contract with Fox…But if the Giants really wanted him, they have a shot. It's not out of the question."
Wed, 25 Jun 2008 09:28:29 -0700 Joshua Robinson, of The New York Times, reports former NFL DL Michael Strahan said that he believes New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress is underpaid. "Obviously, he is underpaid for what he does and brings to the team," Strahan said. "For him, in his defense, it is the right time to do that." "He doesn't want to be here, he doesn't want to play here," Strahan said. "That's obvious with everything that's going on. ... So I think the best thing for them and for Shockey is, if they have the opportunity, let him go."
