The Chicago White Sox acquired OF Casper Wells from the Oakland Athletics Monday, April 29, in exchange for cash considerations. In a corresponding move, the team moved RP Leyson Septimo (shoulder) to the 60-day disabled list.

Confirming a previous report, the Oakland Athletics have activated OF Yoenis Cespedes (hand) from the 15-day disabled list. In a corresponding move, OF Casper Wells has been designated for assignment.

Oakland Athletics OF Casper Wells could split time in the outfield with OF Seth Smith, with Wells seeing starts against left-handed pitchers. Wells could make the start Wednesday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: This will be short-lived, however, with Yoenis Cespedes (hand) possibly returning from the DL as soon as this Sunday. Wells could be designated for assignment again at that point, and Smith will see his PT decline at that point, too.

Oakland Athletics OF Casper Wells is likely to hit against left-handed hitters in a possible platoon, because manager Bob Melvin mentioned the fact that Wells hits lefties well. OF Michael Taylor is likely to be sent down to make room on the roster for Wells.

Fantasy Tip: Wells should receive a look in cavernous AL-only leagues if he indeed becomes part of an outfield platoon, at least until Yoenis Cespedes (hand) returns from the DL, which could be this weekend.

Oakland Athletics OF Yoenis Cespedes (hand) will take swings in batting practice Monday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: There is still no timetable for when Cespedes will return from his DL stint, so remain patient. In the meantime, Seth Smith and Chris B. Young have seen more PT in the absence of Cespedes, and newcomer Casper Wells may be in line for some at-bats with Cespedes on the DL, too.

The Oakland Athletics acquired OF Casper Wells from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations Monday, April 22, and they moved 2B Scott Sizemore (knee) to the 60-day disabled list in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: The A's aren't completely bare when it comes to outfielders, but Yoenis Cespedes (hand) is currently on the DL and Josh Reddick is off to a slow start. Nothing is guaranteed for Wells, but AL-only leaguers should take notice of the transaction.

Seattle Mariners OF Jason Bay edged out OF Casper Wells for the fifth and final outfield roster spot, as the team designated Wells for reassignment Sunday, March 31.

Fantasy Tip: As a fifth outfielder, Bay isn't a great fantasy option. He is only worth a look in the deepest of AL-only leagues right now.
