New York Mets SP Chris Schwinden is unlikely to receive a third start in the rotation. The three realistic options to take the spot are Ps Jeremy Hefner, Garrett Olson and Miguel Batista. Hefner and Olson are both pitching at Class AAA. Ps Zack Wheeler, Matt Harvey and Jeurys Familia are not options.

New York Mets RPs Daniel Herrera and Garrett Olson both made appearances Sunday, March 18, as they try to win the lefty specialist job while RP Tim Byrdak (knee) is sidelined. Herrera inherited two baserunners and threw three straight balls to start against his first batters, but he got out of it with a groundball out. Olson worked a 1-2-3 seventh inning.

He is competing for one of the final spots in the bullpen this spring alongside RPs D.J. Carrasco, Miguel Batista, Pedro Beato, Garrett Olson, Chuck James and Daniel Herrera.
