Indians | Michael Brantley remains red hot

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 18:20:51 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley went 4-for-5 with a double and a three-run home run Wednesday, July 22, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He is now hitting .349 with runners in scoring position (RISP).

Fantasy Tip: Brantley ($5,200; or 10.4% of cap) has hit safely in five straight, and 10 of his past 11, raising his average over .300 for the first time since June 30. Dr. Smooth is on a roll and should be starting every night in FantasyScore until he cools off.

Indians | Michael Bourn back in lineup Saturday

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 12:13:33 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Bourn is starting in center field and batting eighth against Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSciafini Saturday, July 18. OF Michael Brantley, who started in center field Friday, July 17, will play left field, with OF David Murphy receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Bourn ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is only batting .222 with no home runs and 18 RBIs through 80 games and is not a great option in FantasyScore. Speed was once a big part of his game but he only has seven steals this year and one in his last 31 contests. Brantley ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is batting .300 on the road but only has one home run away from Progressive Field.

Indians | Michael Brantley mired in power outage

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 12:11:15 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley has just one home run over his past 52 games and 227 plate appearances.

Fantasy Tip: Brantley ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) has just five long balls this season, but he is delivering in the other four categories with 35 runs, 46 RBI, nine stolen bases and .292/.364/.420 slash line. An uptick in power going forward is likely, but there is also the potential Brantley is playing hurt, which would explain the lack of power. View Brantley as a solid No. 2 outfielder in yearly leagues and a potential bargain at his currently FantasyScore price, especially if he finds his power stroke.

Indians | Michael Brantley hitting for less power

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 18:02:23 -0700

Entering play Wednesday, July 8, Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley was hitting .293 with 23 doubles, five home runs and 43 RBIs through 287 at-bats, with a .351 average with runners in scoring position. Through his first 286 at-bats last season, Brantley hit .325 with 19 doubles, 12 homers and 51 RBIs and a .376 mark with runners in scoring position.

Fantasy Tip: Brantley's ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) lack of power this season can be attributed to a back problem that has plagued him since spring training, although he has only missed eight games. He receives treatment before every game and believes he can continue playing through the pain for the foreseeable future. Brantley can still be a useful contributor in FantasyScore despite the overall decrease in production, as his 3-for-4 performance in Tuesday's game will attest.

Cleveland Indians OF Mike Aviles will start in left field and bat eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jeff Locke Saturday, July 4. OF Michael Brantley, who played left field Friday, July 3, will start in center field, with OF Michael Bourn getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles' ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) .296 mark on the road this season could make him a value option at shortstop for FantasyScore owners this afternoon.

Cleveland Indians 1B Nick Swisher is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 5. OF Michael Brantley is serving as the designated hitter against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman.

Fantasy Tip: Brantley ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) should be a daily consideration for your lineups on FantasyScore. The Tribe outfielder has a slash line of .293/.390/.444 and OPS of .834 against righties in 2015.

Indians | Michael Brantley out against southpaw

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 13:52:30 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley is not in the starting lineup against a left-handed pitcher Wednesday, June 3. OF Ryan Raburn is starting in left field and hitting cleanup against Kansas City Royals SP Jason Vargas.

Fantasy Tip: Raburn ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has just three hits in 25 at-bats (.120) against Vargas in his career with five strikeouts, but he's been a notorious lefty killer in recent times. Despite the poor history, Raburn should still be considered a strong value pick based on the matchup.

Indians | Michael Bourn not starting Tuesday

Tue, 26 May 2015 11:36:38 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Bourn is not starting Tuesday, May 26. The Indians shifted OF Michael Brantley to center field for the night, and OF Ryan Raburn is in left.

Fantasy Tip: Bourn ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is hitting better at the plate, and it looks like manager Terry Francona just shifted his lineup to get Bourn a night off. Raburn ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has one hit in his last 15 plate appearances and carries little fantasy value.

Indians | Michael Brantley back in lienup

Sun, 24 May 2015 16:52:25 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Michael Brantley (back) returned to the lineup Sunday, May 24, after a one-game absence and went 1-for-4 with a double and a walk in a 5-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Brantley ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) has been enjoying a solid year despite dealing with a nagging back issue, but he has tailed off a bit recently. He hasn't had a multi-hit game since May 15, and he has scored just one run over the eight-game stretch. Look elsewhere at FantasyScore until his bat catches fire.
