Milwaukee Brewers 1B Mat Gamel (knee) still has too much swelling in his injured right knee, so there has not been a date set for his surgery to fix a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The team is hoping he can have surgery next week.

The Milwaukee Brewers recalled 3B Taylor Green and purchased the contract of SS Edwin Maysonet from Triple-A Nashville Saturday, May 5. The team also moved 1B Mat Gamel (knee) to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster.

Milwaukee Brewers 1B Mat Gamel (knee) is likely headed for knee surgery, as he was walking on crutches in the clubhouse Wednesday, May 2. 1B Travis Ishikawa will see the most time at first base in his absence, with OF Corey Hart filling in occasionally. "Hopefully, the surgery goes well," said Ishikawa. "I've been praying for him since it happened that it would be as good a news as possible. Obviously, it wasn't. I'll continue to pray for him that his recovery is 100 percent and speedy. I don't know if it's the whole season or what not. (A long-term absence) is the way he made it sound."

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers 1B Mat Gamel (shoulder) doesn't have any structural damage in his left shoulder, and he expects to be fine. "It's just soreness," said Gamel. "It's nothing big."
