ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli reports there is a good chance that the New York Giants will release offensive lineman Dusty Zeigler (knee) on June 1, because he has not recovered from microfracture surgery on his right knee and cannot yet pass a team physical.

Neil Best reports for Newsday New York Giants OL Dusty Zeigler (knee) has no idea when, or if, he will play again. "I'm in limbo," he said Friday. Zeigler was planning a new round of calls to the doctors who have been studying the latest MRI on his right knee. Doctors have told Zeigler to rest and avoid long stretches on his feet; he has not been attending practice.

ESPN.com reports New York Giants C Dusty Zeigler practiced without any apparent pain Thursday and it appears he may be able to play Sunday. The decision will be made either Friday or Saturday, coach Jim Fassel said. "I feel like I am getting closer, honestly,'' Zeigler said. "I feel like I am getting better. I can tell, and the coaches can tell, and the trainers can tell.'' Even if he plays, he will not start.

Neil Best reports for Newsday New York Giants C Dusty Zeigler practiced with the scout team Wednesday, but it appears he will sit out one more week. "We'll just go along for a while and see how things go," said coach Jim Fassel, who said it would be difficult to insert Zeigler into a group that "has had seven games [including preseason] and a lot of practices, and he has hardly done anything."

Giants.com reports New York Giants C Dusty Zeigler (knee) participated in some individual drills at practice Monday. He was not involved in the team segment of practice. "Dusty is coming along," coach Jim Fassel said. "I would assume if everything progresses, he'll get some reps on Wednesday." Fassel said it was "more than likely" that Zeigler will not play against the Rams this Sunday.

"The healing process is going fine," coach Jim Fassel said. "As much as anything, maybe it relieves Dusty's mind that everything is on the mend. Everything seems to be on course." "I'm still holding out hope for the opener," Fassel said. "But that becomes a question of how much practice time he gets."

According to the New York Times, New York Giants C Dusty Zeigler (knee) won’t take part during the team’s first practices of training camp because he’s still recovering from off-season knee surgery. The team believes he’s at about 90 percent. He’s expected to be ready in the early part of camp. He should be 100 percent come the start of the season.

Paul Needell reports for the Star-Ledger if the NFL season started today, the New York Giants starting offensive line would probably be: LT Chris Bober, LG Rich Seubert, C Dusty Zeigler, RG Jason Whittle and RT Luke Petitgout. There is a chance Bober could be moved to guard and Petitgout to left tackle. Coach Jim Fassel would prefer not to move Petitgout because of all ther other changes. The line situation is one reason the Giants are reportedly one of the teams interested in free agent OT Victor Riley (Chiefs).

Michael Eisen reports for Giants.com CB Jason Sehorn (knee) practiced today as did CB Will Allen (eye) and C Dusty Zeigler (concussion). Backup RB Damon Washington (hamstring) was limited in his participation. DT Keith Hamilton (pectoral muscle) and WR Thabiti Davis (knee and ankle) did not practice. The team's practice session was shorter than normal due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Vinny Ditrani reports for the Bergen Record injuries to RBs Tiki Barber and Ron Dayne forced New York Giants third-string RB Damon Washington into action and he responded with 90 yards rushing on 25 carries. QB Kerry Collins and his group of talented WRs were healthy, but they did not take charge of the game. The Giants are 3-1 despite their inconsistency and a spotty offensive performance. "It was miserable out there," said C Dusty Zeigler, one player who has been concerned with the unit since the first regular-season game in Denver. "We definitely weren't right," said Collins. "We never got a rhythm."

DT Keith Hamilton pulled his hamstring and will miss two to three days. Head coach Jim Fassel believes CB Will Peterson (knee) can return to practice this week. C Dusty Zeigler (ankle) could return to practice Monday. Due to the injuries, Fassel said that he will not have the team practice in full pads from Saturday to Monday.

Associated Press reports X-Rays on New York Giants OT Lomas Brown were negative. Brown, who was injured in practice Wednesday, expects to play in the pre-season game against the New England Patriots Friday. C Dusty Zeigler (ankle) will not play in the pre-season opener. Glenn Parker will start, but will get limited action. Parker recently underwent surgery to remove potentially cancerous moles. Head coach Jim Fassel was impressed with G Ron Stone. Fassel has said Stone has been “finishing blocks better than I have seen in my five years."

Michael Eisen reports for Giants.com the team welcomed several injured players back to practice earlier today. Those players included LB Brandon Short, DL Cornelius Griffin, Ross Kolodziej and Cedric Pittman and OL Jason Whittle and Glenn Parker. For Parker, it was his first practice of training camp. Starting C Dusty Zeigler missed the workout with a sore ankle. Rookie CB Will Peterson had an MRI taken on his sore knee, but the results have not been released yet.

The Associated Press reports the New York Giants made it through Saturday's scrimmage with no serious injuries. Starting C Dusty Zeigler left the field with an ice pack on his left ankle, and CB Emmanuel McDaniel left with leg cramps.
