Astros | Houston sitting three lefties

Mon, 30 May 2016 11:16:14 -0700

Houston Astros 1B Luis Valbuena, 3B Colin Moran and OF Tony Kemp are not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Edwin Escobar Monday, May 30. OF Colby Rasmus will start in left field, while OF Jake Marisnick will start in center field and is batting seventh. 1B Tyler White will start at first base and is batting fifth. SS Marwin Gonzalez will start at third base and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Marisnick has been more productive at the plate recently but is still hitting only .164 on the season, so owners should be able to find better options. White and Gonzalez are both hitting under .230 this season and are not strong fantasy option.

Astros | Jason Castro not in the lineup

Sun, 29 May 2016 10:44:15 -0700

Houston Astros C Jason Castro is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Nick Tropeano Sunday, May 29. C Evan Gattis will start at catcher, while OF George Springer will serve as the designated hitter. OF Colby Rasmus will start in right field, while OF Jake Marisnick will start in center field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis has been posting solid numbers in recent games and should be an option at catcher for fantasy owners. Marisnick is still hitting only .145 so far this season and should be avoided in all leagues.

Astros | Colby Rasmus out of lineup Saturday

Sat, 28 May 2016 16:36:04 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus is out of the starting lineup Saturday, May 28, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. OF Jake Marisnick is in for Ausmus and will hit eighth against Angels SP Jered Weaver.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a normal off night for Rasmus, who is hitting .190 in the past week and slumping badly at the plate. Marisnick has been decent in the field for Houston but bad at the plate, and his fantasy value is minimal as a result.

Astros | Colby Rasmus not in lineup

Thu, 19 May 2016 14:57:05 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus (rest) is not starting Thursday, May 19. OF Tony Kemp will enter the lineup as a result and bat ninth against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus has just four hits in 22 at-bats this year against left-handed pitching, so it makes sense to bench him against the best southpaw in the American League. Meanwhile, Kemp was just recently called up for the first time, and while he does have two hits in his first three at-bats, he's better off being left untouched in daily formats with Sale on the mound.

Astros | No Jake Marisnick Wednesday

Wed, 18 May 2016 14:30:48 -0700

Houston Astros OF Jake Marisnick is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 18. OF Tony Kemp draws the start in left field and is hitting ninth against Chicago White Sox SP Mat Latos. OF Colby Rasmus shifts to center field.

Fantasy Tip: Kemp is the second Astros player making his first big league start tonight (Colin Moran the other). Kemp has a small frame and not much power, but the outfielder makes up for it with plenty of speed (35 steals last year). He also makes above-average contact with a line-drive stroke that gave him a .298 average at Class AAA Fresno before being called up. He's AL-only material for depth, but he may not stick around once Carlos Gomez comes off the DL.

Astros | Colby Rasmus sitting vs. Red Sox

Thu, 12 May 2016 13:08:35 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 12. OF Jake Marisnick is starting in left field and batting ninth against Boston Red Sox SP David Price Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus is off to a solid start with seven home runs, 28 RBI and a .340 on-base percentage. His .224 batting average isn't stellar, but he is also a .244 career hitter, so some positive regression is likely ahead. Plus, you drafted Rasmus for his power. Marisnick has a career .223/.266/.371 slash line against southpaws and should be viewed as a desperation start in all fantasy formats facing off against Price Thursday.

Astros | Colby Rasmus receives night off

Thu, 05 May 2016 13:40:14 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus (rest) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 5. OF Jake Marisnick is starting in his place in left field and batting ninth opposite Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley.

Fantasy Tip: It'll be a standard night off for Houston's regular cleanup man. Owners shouldn't really consider his replacement, though, as Marisnick has just one hit thus far in 10 at-bats to begin the campaign. Evan Gattis is batting cleanup with Rasmus out of the lineup and could be a tempting option for daily formats.

Astros | Colby Rasmus snaps hitless skid

Wed, 04 May 2016 23:57:14 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus snapped an 0-for-13 skid with a run-scoring single Wednesday, May 4, against the Minnesota Twins.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus belted seven homers with 19 RBIs, so don't give up on him in fantasy leagues just because of his recent hitless skid. He is a solid OF3 or utility fantasy option in most formats and DFS play.

Astros | Carlos Gomez remains sidelined

Sun, 01 May 2016 12:12:47 -0700

Houston Astros OF Carlos Gomez (rib cage) is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill Sunday, May 1. OF Colby Rasmus will start in center field, while OF Preston Tucker will start in left field and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Gomez will need to be placed on the 15-day disabled list. Tucker has gone 2-for-11 in his last seven days but is not a strong starting candidate in most leagues.

Astros | Carlos Gomez out of lineup Saturday

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 11:08:46 -0700

Houston Astros OF Carlos Gomez is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn Saturday, April 30. OF Colby Rasmus will bat cleanup and play center field, while OF Preston Tucker will bat seventh and start in left field.

Fantasy Tip: It is uncertain if Gomez's absence from the lineup is related to the wrist injury he suffered after being hit by a pitch earlier this week. He is batting just .213 with two RBI in 80 at-bats this season.
