Astros | Colby Rasmus returning to Houston

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 15:15:43 -0800

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus will accept the team's one-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus will likely return and fill an everyday outfield role for the 'Stros. He hit just .238 (103-for-432) but had 25 home runs and drove in 61 in 137 games. He's more of a deep mixed outfielder in traditional fantasy leagues and can be a value pick against right-handed pitchers on FantasyScore, as 18 of his homers in 2015 came against righties.

Astros | Colby Rasmus receives qualifying offer

Fri, 06 Nov 2015 17:57:13 -0800

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus received a one-year, $15.8 million qualifying offer from the team Friday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus has one week to accept the team's qualifying offer or become a free agent. If he signs with another club, the Astros would receive a compensatory pick in next year's draft. Rasmus hit .238 with 25 home runs and 61 RBIs in 137 regular-season games and went 7-for-17 with four homers and six RBIs during the playoffs. He strikes out a ton but makes an excellent source of power for fantasy owners who can live with a mediocre batting average.

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and two RBIs against the Kansas City Royals in Game 2 of the American League Division Series Friday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) became the first player in MLB history to have at least one extra-base hit in each of his first six career postseason games. He is 4-for-9 with a double and three home runs during this year's playoffs, making him worthy of consideration for FantasyScore lineups.

Astros | Colby Rasmus homers again

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 21:22:29 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, a run scored, a steal and a walk in a 5-3 win over the Kansas City Royals in Game 1 of the American League Division Series Thursda, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) has homered in the first two games of the postseason after hitting 25 homers in the regular season. He is a high-risk, high-reward option at FantasyScore, but he isn't a bad gamble at his current price.

Astros | Colby Rasmus homers twice

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 01:11:47 -0700

Houston Astros OF Colby Rasmus homered twice Saturday, Oct. 3, in his team's 6-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has recovered nicely after a weak July and August. He hit .260 in September and has done well in the last week of the season. He rates as a backup outfielder in most fantasy leagues, the type of player you'd draft for the bench in case someone got hurt.

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 05:20:44 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Rasmus ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is coming off a September where he hit .260 with five home runs and 10 RBI and has started October off strong. Rasmus' availability for the last two games will be determined by the opposing starting pitcher, so owners on FantasyScore should check the lineup.
