Fri, 22 Aug 2014 14:38:37 -0700

Brewers | Have timetables for two starters

Tue, 19 Aug 2014 14:43:03 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SPs Matt Garza (oblique) and Kyle Lohse (ankle) both have a timetable for their returns, according to manager Ron Roenicke. Roenicke noted they are targeting Lohse's return during the team's next road trip, and hope to get Garza back in early September.

Fantasy Tip: The Brewers next road trip begins Monday, Aug. 25, which gives Lohse the opportunity to help fantasy owners down the stretch. Garza might be able to help with a few starts, so he is only worth holding in deep mixed leagues and NL-only formats.

Brewers | Matt Garza needs more time

Mon, 11 Aug 2014 09:11:00 -0700

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza (oblique) won't resume throwing until he is "completely pain-free," according to manager Ron Roenicke. Roenicke also said that Garza will likely need more than 15 days to return.

Fantasy Tip: It's a smart move by the Brewers, since oblique injuries aren't anything to play around with for pitchers. Garza won't be back for at least another couple of weeks.

Brewers | Matt Garza to DL

Tue, 05 Aug 2014 11:15:52 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza (oblique) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain Tuesday, Aug. 5, and RP Rob Wooten was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: This move is no surprise. Garza missed around two months with an oblique strain to start the 2013 season, so this could be a long-term injury. Hold onto Garza for now, but know that he probably won't give you much down the stretch. Marco Estrada is expected to enter the rotation. He's worth a look if you're desperate for a pitcher in NL leagues.

Brewers | Matt Garza expected to land on DL

Tue, 05 Aug 2014 10:19:00 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SP Matt Garza (oblique) is expected to land on the disabled list with a left oblique strain, manager Ron Roenicke said on his weekly radio show. Garza left his start early after six innings with the oblique strain. Garza suffered a similar injury in spring training last year and missed the first seven weeks of the season. SP Marco Estrada will likely be called upon to take Garza's spot in the rotation, and RP Mike Fiers is likely to be called up from Triple-A Nashville to pitch in long relief.

Fantasy Tip: Oblique injuries almost always land a pitcher on the DL, so this is nothing new. Plan to lose Garza for a good chunk of time. Estrada, who struggled mightily in the rotation and was demoted to the bullpen, should only be worth consideration in NL-only leagues.
