The New York Post's George King reports the New York Yankees signed OF C.J. Henry to a minor-league deal after their No. 1 pick in the 2005 draft asked for and was granted his release by the Philadelphia Phillies. He was dealt to the Phillies in 2006 as part of the deal to acquire OF Bobby Abreu.

Phillies | Tentative deal for Abreu in place

ESPN.com reports a tentative deal is in place that would send Philadelphia Phillies OF Bobby Abreu and SP Cory Lidle to the New York Yankees in exchange for Yankees minor-league SS C.J. Henry and P Matt Smith. The Phillies are said to be receiving two other minor-leaguers, while the Yankees will take on Abreu and Lidle's contracts.

The Associated Press reports the New York Yankees signed first-round pick SS C.J. Henry (Putnam City High School) to a deal with a $1.575 million signing bonus. He'll will receive nearly $1 million up front, agent Jeff Berry said. Henry will be assigned to the Yankees' Gulf Coast League affiliate in Tampa, Fla. The rookie-level team begins its season Friday.
