Thu, 06 Jun 2013 12:15:00 -0700 Boston Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury (groin) is back in the lineup Thursday, June 6. Fantasy Tip: Get him back in your lineups immediately. Assuming Ellsbury doesn't have a setback, this is bad news for Jackie Bradley, with Shane Victorino (hamstring) expected to return from the disabled list possibly this weekend. There's a chance Bradley gets shipped back to the minors. If not, he'll probably only be useful in AL leagues off the bench.
Wed, 05 Jun 2013 20:03:52 -0700 Boston Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury (groin) missed his fifth consecutive game Wednesday, June 5, but he said he is confident he'll be able to return to the lineup Thursday, June 6, against the Texas Rangers. Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners will want to make sure Ellsbury makes it through at least two full games without any setbacks before plugging him back into the active lineup.
Wed, 05 Jun 2013 11:40:07 -0700 Boston Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury (groin) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, June 5, and the team will make a decision on the disabled list in the coming days. Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury tweaked his groin during his impressive five-stolen base game late last week. He hasn't played since. Speed is a big part of Ellsbury's game, so Boston isn't rushing him back. A DL stint can be backdated, so he won't have to miss the full two weeks if they disable him. Jackie Bradley's stay will be elongated if Ellsbury lands on the DL. Bradley is looking better at the dish since being recalled, too. Consider him in deep mixed affairs.
Tue, 04 Jun 2013 14:46:01 -0700 Boston Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury (groin) could return to the lineup Wednesday, June 5. He did some running and took batting practice Tuesday, June 4. The team still thinks it's unlikely he'll need to go on the disabled list. Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury could still land on the DL. Prepare for that possibility. If he returns Wednesday, Jackie Bradley's days with Boston could be numbered again with Shane Victorino (hamstring) possibly returning from the DL this weekend.
Sun, 02 Jun 2013 19:21:24 -0700 Boston Red Sox manager John Farrell said Sunday, June 2, that the team is "shooting" for OF Jacoby Ellsbury (groin) to return Tuesday, June 4, against the Texas Rangers. Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury is a bit of a question mark heading into the upcoming week. If you have healthier alternatives, it might be a good idea to go that way rather than with Ellsbury, who has displayed a tremendous propensity for injury during his career.
Sat, 01 Jun 2013 11:54:07 -0700 Boston Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury (groin) is not in the starting lineup against the New York Yankees Saturday, June 1. OF Jackie Bradley will make his second consecutive start in center field, with OF Mike Carp playing right field for the first time in his MLB career.
Fri, 31 May 2013 12:39:43 -0700 Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury (groin) suffered a strained left side of his groin while stealing his fifth base of the game Thursday, May 30. Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury is hoping to return to the lineup Saturday, but groin strains can be pretty painful and tough to come back from quickly, especially since a large part of Ellsbury's game depends on his speed. Monitor this situation, but it's possible he could land on the DL. If that happens, Jackie Bradley will move from a bench role to every day duties and is would be worth adding in mixed leagues in the short term.
Fri, 31 May 2013 12:39:24 -0700 Boston Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury (groin) was scratched from the lineup with a tight groin Friday, May 31.
Fri, 31 May 2013 09:49:43 -0700 Boston Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury stole a team-record five bases in the win over the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday, May 30. Five stolen bases in a single game has been done only 20 times in major league history since 1916, and Los Angeles Dodgers OF Carl Crawford was the last to do so, stealing six in 2009. Fantasy Tip: We'll never see a recurrence of his 32-homer season in 2011, but a return to 50 thefts is entirely possible if he can stay healthy. If you're leading your league in steals by a hefty margin, Ellsbury could become a monumental trade chip that could land you some nice pieces. On the other hand, hanging onto him won't hurt, either.
Thu, 23 May 2013 07:43:25 -0700 Boston Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington said the team hasn't had talks with OF Jacoby Ellsbury on a long-term deal.
