Astros | Luis Valbuena not in Tuesday lineup

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 14:16:40 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Luis Valbuena is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 1, against the Seattle Mariners. 3B Jed Lowrie is batting sixth against Mariners SP Roenis Elias.

Fantasy Tip: With a .143 average against Elias, Valbuena ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is taking a seat despite his 22 home runs and decent bat. Lowrie ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is hitting .100 in the last week, so pass on him as a source of FantasyScore production.

Astros | Jed Lowrie out vs. Twins

Sun, 30 Aug 2015 08:30:43 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 30. 1B Chris Carter draws into the lineup and is batting seventh against Minnesota Twins SP Ervin Santana Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Lowrie ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) in all fantasy formats Sunday. He is batting just .159 since returning from injury Thursday, July 30, and seasonal owners should consider replacements. Carter ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is a potential flier for FantasyScore players Sunday, as Santana ($5,800, 11.6% of cap) sports a target-worthy 9.20 ERA over his past six starts. Still, Carter is extremely risky.

Astros | Jed Lowrie slumping since return

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 11:03:13 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie is hitting just .186 entering the day Wednesday, Aug. 26, since coming off the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his slump since his return, Lowrie ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is a valuable commodity in deep mixed leagues as an everyday player, and his power potential will continue to make him an intriguing value option in daily formats.

Astros | Carlos Correa has day off

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 07:49:24 -0700

Houston Astros SS Carlos Correa is out of the lineup Wednesday, Aug. 26, with 3B Jed Lowrie (hand) returning to hit third.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is hitting just .194-1-7 this month, but he's at a cheap price for a three-hole hitter. Michael Pineda isn't a bad matchup on FantasyScore.

Astros | Jed Lowrie's hand is fine

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 21:50:46 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Astros SS Jed Lowrie (hand) was given the day off Monday, Aug. 24, against the New York Yankees. Manager A.J. Hinch said Lowrie's hand is fine.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) appears to be a safe FantasyScore play for Tuesday, as the skipper confirmed his hand injury is fine.

Astros | Jed Lowrie not out long

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 16:52:23 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie (thumb) left the game with a right thumb contusion Sunday, Aug. 23, and he wasn't available to play Monday, Aug. 24. However, manager A.J. Hinch said Lowrie's injury isn't a long-term situation. Lowrie said he was feeling better Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) could be back in the starting lineup as soon as tomorrow, but make sure he's back in there before inserting him into your FantasyScore lineups. Houston faces New York Yankees starter Ivan Nova Tuesday night, so Lowrie wouldn't be a bad pick in daily formats.

Astros | Jed Lowrie has day off Monday

Mon, 24 Aug 2015 13:08:27 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie is not in the starting lineup Monday, Aug. 24. 3B Luis Valbuena is starting at third base and hitting seventh, while 1B Chris Carter draws into the lineup at first base and is hitting eighth against New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) and Carter ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) both have plenty of power to spare but struggle to make contact and have been major headaches for their fantasy owners because of crippling batting averages. Valbuena is the better value on FantasyScore, but beware of both if you choose to go that route. They are both boom or bust commodities.

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 18:10:05 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie (thumb) left in the seventh inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a bruised right thumb Sunday, Aug. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Check back for updates on Lowrie ($4,100, 8.2% of cap), but you may need to make other plans at FantasyScore for at least the next day or two.

Astros | Jed Lowrie receiving a breather

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 15:03:19 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 20. 3B Luis Valbuena moves over to third base, while SS Marwin Gonzalez is starting at first base and hitting second against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) rarely fills out the stat sheet when he starts, and he's facing the second-ranked strikeout pitcher in the American League in Archer. Even in the two-hole, Gonzalez is a low-end shortstop play on FantasyScore.

Astros | Jed Lowrie not in the lineup

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 10:26:17 -0700

Houston Astros SS Jed Lowrie is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Matt Boyd Sunday, Aug. 16. 2B Marwin Gonzalez will start at third base and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Gonzalez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is hitting only .167 this month and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.
