Athletics | Jed Lowrie headed to Oakland

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 08:19:51 -0800

Houston Astros SS Jed Lowrie was acquired by the Oakland Athletics Wednesday, Nov. 25, according to multiple sources. The package headed to Houston has not been disclosed. Lowrie will make $7.5 million in 2016 and $6.5 million in 2017. He has a $6 million club option for 2018.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie really struggled with injuries last season, and he turns 32 in April. He still has pop, though, and will be a MI consideration in traditional leagues.

Astros | Jed Lowrie available

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 12:10:24 -0800

Houston Astros SS Jed Lowrie is said to be available in trade this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie played only 69 games for Houston this year due to injury and has been injury-prone in his career. When healthy, though, he has double-digit home run power and can be extremely useful as a middle infielder with pop in deep mixed formats.

Astros | Jed Lowrie returns to lineup

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 12:17:29 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie (quadriceps) is back in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Robbie Ray Sunday, Oct. 4, batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is starting for the first time since Tuesday, Sept. 29. He is batting just .198 with five home runs and 20 RBIs since the All-Star break, after hitting .300 during the first half of the season. FantasyScore owners should avoid using him for now.

Astros | Jed Lowrie available off bench

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 18:34:14 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie (quadriceps) is available off the bench against the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday, Oct. 2, according to manager A.J. Hinch.

Fantasy Tip: It wouldn't be surprising to see Lowrie ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) return to the lineup Saturday, Oct. 3, but he makes a risky FantasyScore play this weekend. He had collected just one hit in his previous 15 at-bats prior to getting injured.

Astros | Jed Lowrie remains out

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 16:22:44 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie (quadriceps) remains out of the lineup Friday, Oct. 2. 3B Luis Valbuena is starting at the hot corner and is hitting fifth against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has 24 home runs on the year but is batting just .219. Against right-handers he has 19 of his 24 bombs, and he hit .293 (12-for-41) with two homers and six RBI last month. He's definitely not a bad dice roll by any means, especially with De La Rosa allowing 1.5 homers per nine innings this season.

Astros | Jed Lowrie not playing

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 16:11:20 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie (quadriceps) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 30. 3B Luis Valbuena is starting at the hot corner and is batting seventh against Seattle Mariners SP Tony Zych.

Fantasy Tip: Valbuena ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) could be worth the dice roll tonight on FantasyScore against a pitcher making his first career start. Valbuena doesn't make a ton of contact but has a surprising 23 home runs on the year.

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 01:17:40 -0700

Houston Astros SS Jed Lowrie (quadriceps) left his team's game against the Seattle Mariners Tuesday, Sept. 29, with left quad soreness.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) may be treated with kid gloves the next day or two, so keep an eye on whether he plays and how much.

Astros | Jed Lowrie returns against Texas

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 13:59:16 -0700

Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie (ankle, foot) is starting at third base and batting fifth against Texas Rangers SP Colby Lewis Thursday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: With a .665 OPS over 37 games since returning from the disabled list in late July, there isn't a lot to be excited about with Lowrie ($4,800, 9.6% of cap), especially at his cap hit and after missing the past two games. FantasyScore players can find better value Thursday.

Astros | Jed Lowrie hoping to play Thursday

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 14:42:02 -0700

Houston Astros OF Jed Lowrie (ankle, foot) is available to play Wednesday, Sept. 16, and he expects to return to the starting lineup Thursday, Sept. 17. SS Marwin Gonzalez is starting at third base and batting seventh against Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has been solid against lefties this season with a .298/.351/.479 slash line, so he checks out as a solid source of cap relief for FantasyScore players Wednesday. Lowrie ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has a .665 OPS over 37 games since returning from the disabled list in late July, so you'll want to see him string together a few solid days at the dish before relying on him in any fantasy format.

Astros | Jed Lowrie nursing injuries

Tue, 15 Sep 2015 18:20:24 -0700

Updating a previous report, Houston Astros 3B Jed Lowrie (ankle, foot) was out of the lineup Tuesday, Sept. 15, against the Texas Rangers due to a left foot and ankle contusion. He is considered day to day. Lowrie was injured Monday, Sept. 14, when he fouled a ball off of his foot.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) should be avoided in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any lingering effects of his injury. Jonathan Villar ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) filled in for Lowrie Tuesday.
