Tampa Bay Rays SP Jeff Niemann (foot) left his start after just one inning Monday, May 14, after being hit on the right foot by a groundball. P Cesar Ramos replaced Niemann in the second inning.

The Tampa Bay Rays are looking for another reliever, ideally but not necessarily one with high-leverage experience. The team believes it could fill the remaining spot internally from a group that includes RP's Josh Lueke, Cesar Ramos, Dane De La Rosa, Jhonny Nunez and potentially a starter who doesn't make the rotation.

The Tampa Bay Rays set their roster for the Divisional Series against the Texas Rangers. The relievers will be RPs Juan Cruz, Wade Davis, Kyle Farnsworth, Brandon Gomes, J.P. Howell, Jake McGee and Joel Peralta. The team will carry three catchers in Cs John Jaso, Jose Lobaton and Kelly Shoppach. 1B Dan Johnson, SP Jeff Niemann, RP Cesar Ramos, OF Justin Ruggiano and RP Andy Sonnanstine were left off the roster.

The Tampa Bay Rays have placed SP Alex Cobb (hand) on the 15-day disabled list because of discomfort that he experienced in his right hand Saturday, Aug. 7, against the Oakland Athletics. Tests for blood clots came back negative and he has been shut down until the team can determine what's wrong with him. Cobb said that he had a "dead-arm" feeling and could not feel the baseball in his hand. In a corresponding move, SP Cesar Ramos has been recalled from Triple-A Durham.

Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon said neither RPs Kyle Farnsworth or Cesar Ramos will be used Tuesday, July 19, due to recent heavy workloads. Maddon is unsure who he will use if a save situation arises.
