Steve Wyche, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons WR Adam Jennings could push WR Jerome Pathon for the No. 3 wide receiver job. Pathon hurt his chances for the role after losing his grip on a pass from QB Matt Schaub Saturday, Aug. 19, that was intercepted and returned for a touchdown by the Green Bay Packers.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports Atlanta Falcons head coach Jim Mora made the expected move of demoting WR Dez White Thursday, Oct. 20. White will be replaced in the lineup by WR Brian Finneran when the Falcons host the New York Jets in a Monday night game, Oct. 24. The other starter remains WR Michael Jenkins. The demotion of White, whose spot on the roster could be in jeopardy as well, marks the second major move by Atlanta at wide receiver this year. The team's newest wide receiver, veteran WR Jerome Pathon will move up to the No. 4 spot now as part of the shakeup, behind Jenkins, Finneran and WR Roddy White.

We always are. If that means personnel changes, then it is personnel changes. If it means scheme changes, it means scheme changes. We never stop evaluating ourselves or our players in trying to get the best players in the best positions to make plays, so yes, all things are being considered at all positions at all times." WR Jerome Pathon said there were signs that his role could increase, but no one has told him anything definitive yet.

Steve Wyche, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons WR Dez White struggled during the team's Week 6 game and he was kept on the sideline in the fourth quarter. White said afterward he knows he could be falling out of favor. "The bottom line is they need me to make plays, so it's up to me, not them," White said. "They can't keep waiting for me to come around and get back into the game from missing a couple games with (hamstring) injuries or whatever. I've got to turn up the pace and get back into the game." Head coach Jim Mora declined comment on White's status but said recently signed WR Jerome Pathon, who has been inactive the past three games, could be activated next Monday, Oct. 24, against the New York Jets if he has a good week of practice.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports free agent WR Jerome Pathon (Seahawks) has agreed to contract terms with the Atlanta Falcons, and will sign a one-year deal Wednesday, Sept. 28. Pathon flew to Atlanta Tuesday evening, Sept. 27 and is expected to be on the practice field Wednesday, Sept. 28, as the Falcons begin preparations for their Week 4 home game with the Minnesota Vikings. Atlanta will have to make a roster move to create an opening for Pathon, once he officially signs.

Head coach Mike Holmgren, who questioned Pathon's conditioning at June minicamps, seems reluctant to praise him now. "I think he's done some good things," Holmgren said Thursday from training camp at Eastern Washington University, "but I could say that about everybody. So, as far as distancing himself from the pack, I would say they are all competing and it's very close still."

Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks WR Jerome Pathon knows he needs to lose about 5 pounds in eight weeks. As noted previously, head coach Mike Holmgren has been critical of Pathon's conditioning, but he feels those concerns have been a bit overblown. "He is entitled to his opinion; he is the head coach," Pathon said after practice Wednesday, June 15. "At the same time, this is offseason workouts and we still have to go out in the desert and run around for two or three weeks, right?" The team doesn't practice in a desert, but conditions are generally hot and dry. Pathon said he reported to minicamp at 198 pounds, up from his regular-season weight of 192 or 193.
