One of the reasons is because Bruce has struggled in his career against Washington Nationals SP Ross Detwiler, collecting only one hit in 11 at-bats against the lefty. It is uncertain how long this lineup change will last.

Choo has played center field 10 times in his MLB career but only once in the last six seasons, while Bruce has 35 games of experience in center field (all during the 2008 season).
