Blue Jays | Cliff Pennington receives the start

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 13:58:15 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays SS Cliff Pennington is starting at second base and batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a sneaky source of cap relief at FantasyScore Wednesday. The Blue Jays have a potent offensive, and he carries a minimum salary. Still, he isn't without risk, especially batting in front of the pitcher and with a .232/.392/.312 slash line over the past four seasons.

Diamondbacks | Nick Ahmed out Thursday

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 11:07:14 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Nick Ahmed is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 6. SS Cliff Pennington is starting at the 6 and hitting second against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross.

Fantasy Tip: Even in a favorable lineup spot today, Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) shouldn't be attractive to any daily users. He's a defense-first player with little to offer with his lumber.

Diamondbacks | Nick Ahmed hitting second

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 13:07:14 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Nick Ahmed is hitting second in the order Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Houston Astros and LHP Dallas Keuchel. OF A.J. Pollock (knee) is out of the lineup, so SS Cliff Pennington will start in left field and hit ninth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Ahmed ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) is hitting .338 against left-handed pitching this season with eight walks and eight strikeouts. Ahmed is just 2-for-his-last-28, and he can be avoided against one of the league's top lefties. Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has three singles in 14 plate appearances against lefties this season, but he'll have next to no upside while at the bottom of the lineup.

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Nick Ahmed is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 29. SS Cliff Pennington is starting at the 6 and hitting ninth against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez.

Fantasy Tip: Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be ignored in all daily contests.

Diamondbacks | Chris Owings sitting down vs. Brewers

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 14:23:57 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks 2B Chris Owings is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 23. SS Cliff Pennington is playing second base and batting second against Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) started Wednesday, July 22, at shortstop for Nick Ahmed ($3,400, 6.8% of cap), and Pennington went 0-for-3 with a walk. For the season, Pennington boasts a .236/.317/.282 slash line, so FantasyScore players should likely look elsewhere for cap relief Thursday.

Diamondbacks | Nick Ahmed sitting vs. Marlins

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 15:53:37 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Nick Ahmed is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 22. SS Cliff Pennington is playing shortstop and batting eighth against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Ahmed ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief by FantasyScore players, especially facing Fernandez ($8,800, 17.6% of cap)

Pirates | PIT interested in Cliff Pennington

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 12:50:07 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Cliff Pennington is attracting interest from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting .245 and has little power, so his skills may not translate well to PNC Park and its short porches. His versatility comes in playing second base, shortstop and third base.

Diamondbacks | Nick Ahmed will not start

Sat, 11 Jul 2015 09:18:30 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Nick Ahmed is not in the starting lineup against New York Mets SP Matt Harvey Saturday, July 11. SS Cliff Pennington will start at shortstop and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ahmed ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) probably will return to the lineup in the near future. Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) does have six hits and four RBI in his last eight games but is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Diamondbacks | Chris Owings sitting out

Wed, 08 Jul 2015 14:55:04 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Chris Owings is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 8. SS Cliff Pennington is starting at second base and hitting ninth against Texas Rangers SP Matt Harrison.

Fantasy Tip: Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a weak-hitting infielder for Arizona, and he doesn't deserve much attention on FantasyScore unless you need the salary cap relief.

Diamondbacks | Nick Ahmed sitting vs. Rockies

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 15:38:03 -0700

Arizona Diamondbacks SS Nick Ahmed is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 3. SS Cliff Pennington is starting at shortstop and batting eighth against Colorado Rockies SP Kyle Kendrick Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Pennington ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) draws a plus-matchup against Kendrick. Pennington still should be viewed as a desperation source of cap relief, though. After all, he has a .216/.314/.239 slash line.
