Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen (rib) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 19. He is batting third and playing center field Tuesday, against the Atlanta Braves. In a corresponding move, INF Michael Martinez was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are optimistic that OF Andrew McCutchen (rib) could be activated from the 15-day disabled list when he is eligible Tuesday, Aug. 19, according to manager Clint Hurdle.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if McCuthen is ready to come off the disabled list or still needs a few more days to recover. When he does come off the disabled list, he should return to the lineup in all fantasy leagues.

The Pittsburgh Pirates officially placed OF Andrew McCutchen (ribs) on the 15-day disabled list Monday, Aug. 11, and recalled RP Casey Sadler from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. The DL stint is retroactive to Aug. 4.
Fantasy Tip: The DL move for McCutchen seemed inevitable, with him expected to miss at least a month. You'll need to keep him stashed in a DL spot until he returns. The good news is that he's making excellent progress.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are expected to place OF Andrew McCutchen (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list because of an oblique injury, and he could be out at least three to four weeks, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Starling Marte likely will take over in center field when he comes off the seven-day disabled list. Travis Snider likely will see most of the playing time while McCutchen is out but could also be part of a platoon with a right-handed hitter. Jose Tabata, Michael Martinez, Jayson Nix and Matt Hague are options to see playing time as part of a platoon but likely would only be options in NL-only leagues. Owners in deeper mixed leagues should look to add Snider if they have the chance.
