Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge was released from the hospital Wednesday, July 24, and is expected to make a full recovery after suffering a "very mild stroke." He won't be in uniform for the team's next series against the Minnesota Twins and won't go on the road when they face the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles. Wedge will be re-evaluated in 10 days. Bench coach Robby Thompson will take over managerial duties.

Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge (dizziness) suffered a dizzy spell Monday, July 22, and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Bench coach Robby Thompson will handle the managerial duties Monday night, and Wedge is expected to be back with the team Tuesday, July 23.

The Seattle Mariners' 2011 coaching staff was officially announced Friday, Nov. 5, according to The Tacoma News Tribune's Larry LaRue. Carl Willis will serve as the pitching coach, Chris Chambliss will serve as the hitting coach, Jeff Datz will be the third base coach, Jaime Navarro will serve as the bullpen coach, Robby Thompson will serve as the bench coach and Mike Brumley will be the first base coach.

The Seattle Mariners have added former San Francisco Giants 2B Robby Thompson as bench and infield coach, according to Gerry Spratt, of The Seattle Post-Intelligencer. He joins the Mariners from the Cleveland Indians, where he served as the special assistant to baseball operations during Wedge's stint as manager. Thompson also served as Wedge's bench coach for the 2005 season.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Paul Hoynes reports Cleveland Indians bench coach Robby Thompson may not return to the team for the 2006 season. Thompson has two sons in high school and is expected to spend more time with them.
