Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman close to return

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 16:58:02 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) has gone 1-for-15 with three strikeouts in five rehab games for Class AA Harrisburg, and he is close to returning from a bout with plantar fasciitis.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman ($7,700, 15.4% of cap) should still be stashed away in the majority of leagues, and he still has time to make a significant fantasy impact for his owners.

Nationals | Injured Nats trio unlikely this week

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 09:31:24 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon (quadriceps), OF Jayson Werth (wrist) and 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) are unlikely to return this week, according to manager Matt Williams.

Fantasy Tip: Rendon ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is progressing on his rehab assignment and could be back early next week. He's well worth that price on FantasyScore upon returning. Werth ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) seems a little behind Rendon as the team wants him to accumulate at-bats. Zimmerman ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) isn't far behind as well.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman working in minors

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 18:11:27 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) continues his minor-league rehab assignment with Class AA Harrisburg Tuesday, July 21.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman is making his way back from a bout with plantar fasciitis. It's uncertain how much more time he'll need on his rehab stint, but FantasyScore players should avoid him until he can officially return and play a game or two without any lingering effects of his injury.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman feeling better

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 10:31:04 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) took full batting practice and ran the bases Saturday, July 18. He said running is "way better than it was" and isn't experiencing pain at the plate or in the field.

Fantasy Tip: There is no timetable for Zimmerman's ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) return, although he believes he is close to beginning a minor league rehab assignment. The biggest obstacle to that was running, which he has done each of the last two days. Continue to stash him in all fantasy formats.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon, Ryan Zimmerman working out

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 14:01:32 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon (oblique) and 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) are both going through full workouts Friday, July 17, and both players could be close to going on rehab assignments.

Fantasy Tip: There remains no timetable for either Rendon ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) or Zimmerman ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) to return, though, so expecting them back this month is unrealistic. They both to deserve to be stashed in all formats, with Rendon being the player with much more upside.

Nationals | Anthony Rendon, Ryan Zimmerman progressing

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 15:57:49 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon (oblique) and 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) are with the team and are doing full baseball activities Friday, July 10. "(Rendon) is just starting (jogging). He'll take some grounders today and will be in the BP group. Zim is the same way, he'll take his grounders today… and get in the BP group as well. They're both with us on the trip."

Fantasy Tip: It's good news for Rendon and Zimmerman owners, but there still remains no timetable for their returns. Stay patient in all formats. Danny Espinosa ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) and Tyler Moore ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) have become everyday players and can provide help to owners in deep mixed and NL-only leagues.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman still has pain

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 15:27:30 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) has been taking batting practice but still cannot run without experiencing pain in his foot. The final hurdle he needs to clear before returning to games is running without pain.

Fantasy Tip: There is no timetable for Zimmerman's ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) return to action, and he'll likely need a minor-league rehab assignment before he's activated. Clint Robinson ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) will likely to continue to see the majority of starts at first base. He's a low-end flier at first base in daily games.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman works out in full

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 18:10:03 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) completed a full workout with the team's Class A Potomac affiliate Tuesday, June 30. "(Zimmerman) did a full workout, so he ran light bases, he took grounders, he did a full batting practice," manager Matt Williams said.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman is expected to repeat the workout Wednesday, and then the team will reassess. There is still no timetable for his return, so fantasy owners in all formats need to be patient.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman walks on treadmill

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 20:48:04 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes, taking a "brisk" walk, according to manager Matt Williams. However, the skipper said Wednesday, June 24, that there is still no timetable for Zimmerman's return.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to avoid Zimmerman until he can officially return and prove his health in at least two full games without any setbacks.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman close to activities

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 16:33:56 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) is hoping to participate in baseball activities this week, and he assumes running will be the first test.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) was hitting just .209 before going on the disabled list, but his 34 RBI ranked second on the team entering Tuesday, June 23. Fantasy players have seen plantar fasciitis cause many problems to notable sluggers over the last few years, and if Zimmerman is truly healthy, he could be in for a huge second half of the season.
