Fri, 03 May 2013 11:41:48 -0700 The Washington Nationals have activated 3B Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) from the 15-day disabled list. In a corresponding move, the team optioned 3B Anthony Rendon to Double-A Harrisburg.
Wed, 01 May 2013 20:23:03 -0700 Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) said Wednesday, May 1, that he will come off the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 3. Fantasy Tip: Keep Zimmerman reserved in all fantasy leagues until he is officially activated from the DL and able to prove his health in one full game without any setbacks.
Tue, 30 Apr 2013 15:32:49 -0700 Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) will begin his rehab assignment with Single-A Potomac Wednesday, May 1.
Sun, 28 Apr 2013 09:17:13 -0700 Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) will work out with Class A Potomac Monday, April 29, before playing in rehab games Tuesday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 1.
Sun, 28 Apr 2013 08:39:28 -0700 Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the 15-day disabled list Friday, May 3.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 20:38:46 -0700 Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Friday, April 26, that he is hopeful 3B Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) will soon be able to begin a minor-league rehab assignment. He might be activated from the 15-day disabled list in early May.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 14:51:32 -0700 Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) is eligible to come off the disabled list Friday, May 3, and he thinks he's on track to start a short rehab assignment next week even though he has yet to take swings in the batting cages. Fantasy Tip: It's great that Zimmerman thinks he'll return to the lineup next Friday, but how realistic is that for a player that's often injured early in the season and is a slow healer? Probably not very. Anyway, it won't be a surprise if he doesn't make it back when eligible. Anthony Rendon isn't playing well and needs more minor league seasoning, so until Zimm returns, Steve Lombardozzi is gaining value in NL-only formats.
Fri, 26 Apr 2013 14:47:31 -0700 Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon is sitting the bench again Friday, April 26, after a slow start after being recalled last weekend. "I'm going at it day-by-day, and I don't like to change a winner," Johnson said this afternoon. "Nothing against Anthony Rendon. He's a heck of a player, and he's going to have a great career. But we're in the here and now, and I'm worried about 25 guys. ... That outweighs the need to play a youngster." Rendon has just two hits in 15 at-bats, and he's struck out five times. He also has two errors playing third base. 2B Stephen Lombardozzi seems to be a better fit in the No. 2 hole in the lineup with OF Jayson Werth being dropped to cleanup. The team wants to get Rendon regular at-bats, so he's unlikely to remain on the bench for much longer. Fantasy Tip: Rendon is a bit overmatched and has looked a bit like a deer caught in headlights since his promotion to the majors. He doesn't have many career at-bats in the minors, either, so he most definitely needs more experience in the minors before being comfortable at the highest level. You should fully expect him to be sent back down when Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) returns from the DL.
Thu, 25 Apr 2013 13:33:07 -0700 Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) is only two to three days behind C Wilson Ramos (hamstring), who may return from the disabled list Monday, April 29. Fantasy Tip: This is good news for Zimmerman owners, obviously. He has somewhat of a reputation as a slower healer, though, so that timetable could chance once he begins playing in rehab games. Anthony Rendon won't be around for much longer if Zimmerman returns soon. Davey Johnson indicated that the young third baseman will be sent back to the minors eventually.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 13:34:07 -0700 Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson said 3B Anthony Rendon will be sent down when 3B Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) returns from the disabled list. "I don't care if he hits .900, there's no way he beating out Ryan Zimmerman," Johnson said. Fantasy Tip: Rendon bypassed Class AAA to be called up, so it was expected that he would go back down whenever Zimmerman was ready to return, but that could be longer than just two weeks. If you're desperate, Rendon can serve as a short-term replacement, but once Zimm returns, he's probably only worth holding onto in keeper leagues.
