Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman works out in full

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 18:10:03 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) completed a full workout with the team's Class A Potomac affiliate Tuesday, June 30. "(Zimmerman) did a full workout, so he ran light bases, he took grounders, he did a full batting practice," manager Matt Williams said.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman is expected to repeat the workout Wednesday, and then the team will reassess. There is still no timetable for his return, so fantasy owners in all formats need to be patient.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman walks on treadmill

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 20:48:04 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) walked on the treadmill for 15 minutes, taking a "brisk" walk, according to manager Matt Williams. However, the skipper said Wednesday, June 24, that there is still no timetable for Zimmerman's return.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to avoid Zimmerman until he can officially return and prove his health in at least two full games without any setbacks.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman close to activities

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 16:33:56 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) is hoping to participate in baseball activities this week, and he assumes running will be the first test.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) was hitting just .209 before going on the disabled list, but his 34 RBI ranked second on the team entering Tuesday, June 23. Fantasy players have seen plantar fasciitis cause many problems to notable sluggers over the last few years, and if Zimmerman is truly healthy, he could be in for a huge second half of the season.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman still resting

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 15:30:13 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) is still dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. Zimmerman said he's not able to do much except rest and let the foot heal. He is unsure of when he'll return, but he hopes to be back sooner rather than later. He is currently on the 15-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) has not been much of a factor when he's been on the field, but that could be largely due to the fasciitis he's been dealing with. Tyler Moore ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) only has four hits in the month of June, so he hasn't been worth starting in FantasyScore lineups, even at his cheap cost.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman on DL

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 11:53:50 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot) was placed on the disabled list with foot problems Thursday, June 11.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) foot issues likely contributed to his poor numbers this year (.209-5-34), and there's no telling how long the oft-injured first baseman will be out. Tyler Moore ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) figures to see the most time at first base. Moore has some pop (three home runs in 72 at-bats), but won't help you anywhere else. He's a low-end first base sleeper pick on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman injured and slumping

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 10:26:25 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (foot), who was out of the lineup Wednesday, June 10, is dealing with a bad slump at the plate and is also dealing with a lingering foot problem. He hasn't played in three of the last four games while trying to play through plantar fasciitis in his left foot for most of the year. He's currently hitting just .209 with a .265 on-base percentage and five home runs and 34 RBI. Zimmerman is stuck in a 4-for-46 slump after going 0-for-4 Tuesday, June 9.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) foot injury may explain his uncharacteristically disappointing season. A corner infielder who's not hitting for power needs to be on your bench, but you shouldn't drop him just yet in shallow mixed leagues. Perhaps you can stash him in a DL spot soon if he continues to hurt. At FantasyScore, avoid him for the foreseeable future.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman resting

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 09:10:33 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman is resting Wednesday, June 10, in favor of 1B Tyler Moore.

Fantasy Tip: Moore ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) isn't a good matchup play on FantasyScore against Nate Eovaldi since he's hitting just .179.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman on the bench

Sun, 07 Jun 2015 10:28:00 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman is not in the starting lineup Sunday, June 7. OF Tyler Moore will be the starting first baseman and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup in a day or two. Moore ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has recorded only two hits in his last nine games and probably should be avoided by owners on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman moved to two-hole

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 13:14:59 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman is batting second against Chicago Cubs SP Tsuyoshi Wada Friday, June 5.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman's ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) counting stats are there (22 runs, five home runs and 34 RBI), but his slash line (.217/.276/.364) leaves a lot to be desired. So while the move to the two-hole doesn't project to have a significant impact on his fantasy value, Zimmerman will likely register fewer RBI and score more runs. Until he ups his conistency at the dish, FantasyScore players have to view him as a high-risk, high-reward option at his price tag.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman resting in second game

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 13:56:28 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader Tuesday, June 2. OF Tyler Moore is starting at first base and hitting cleanup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada.

Fantasy Tip: Moore ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) also started in Game 1 and was 1-for-4. He's hitting just .204 on the season and shouldn't be trusted at FantasyScore. A matchup against Estrada is nice because of the pitcher's penchant for allowing homers in a starting roll, but Moore still is a dice roll, at best.
