Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman sues Al Jazeera

Tue, 05 Jan 2016 15:48:23 -0800

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman has filed a suit against Al Jazeera America in which he denies ever taking steroids.

Fantasy Tip: This is in response to the recent Al Jazeera documentary that tied Zimmerman and other prominent professional athletes to HGH, which Zimmerman obviously adamantly denies ever taking. The 31-year-old has been limited to just 156 games over the past two seasons, but showed some signs of life a year ago with 16 home runs and 73 RBI.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman done for the year

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 14:21:42 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) will not play again this season.

Fantasy Tip: That closes the book on Zimmerman after a hot August. You can now safely drop him in single-year leagues if you hadn't already.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman remains sidelined

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 14:09:25 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) remains sidelined due to an oblique strain, with no idea when he will return.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is close to shutdown mode, especially with the Nationals out of postseason contention. Stash him on your keeper list for 2016 and look elsewhere for FantasyScore help.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman still out

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 11:19:04 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) remains out of the lineup Monday, Sept. 28. 1B Clint Robinson is starting at first base and is batting cleanup against Cincinnati Reds SP Brandon Finnegan.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has been so-so in September filling in for Zimmerman, hitting .262 (16-for-61) with one home run and seven RBI. Despite no home runs against southpaws this year, Robinson owns a .393/.485/.464 slash line with an OPS of .949 against them. He's worth a look as a sleeper today on FantasyScore in the cleanup spot.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman still hurting

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 15:22:45 -0700

Updating a previous report, Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) is still experiencing discomfort in his oblique, according to manager Matt Williams.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners shouldn't wait for Zimmerman ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) to be officially shut down before dropping him from their seasonal teams. There are only 10 games left in the season, so at best, he may return for an outing or two. Clint Robinson ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) and Tyler Moore ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) project to continue their platoon at first base in Zimmerman's absence.

Nationals | Still no Ryan Zimmerman

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 13:57:33 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) remains out of the lineup Friday, Sept. 25. 1B Clint Robinson is at first base and is hitting fifth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff Friday.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, it is likely safe to expect little in terms of a fantasy return from Zimmerman ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) again in 2015. Robinson ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has fared well when given an opportunity with a .289/.376/.444 slash line as a starter this season. Still, at a deep and talented fantasy position, Robinson is a low-end option.

Nationals | Still no Ryan Zimmerman

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 11:13:35 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) remains out of the lineup Thursday, Sept. 24. 1B Clint Robinson is at first base and is hitting fifth against Baltimore Orioles SP Tyler Wilson.

Fantasy Tip: The chances of Zimmerman ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) returning this year are dimming quickly. Don't hold out much hope. Robinson ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has plenty of power to spare and sits with a juicy matchup today. Consider him as a sleeper pick on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman still has soreness

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 15:14:02 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) continues to try and return before the end of the season, but he's still feeling a pull in his strained left oblique when he attempts to swing, which limits his chances of making a return. He has started taking light swings in the batting cages the last couple of days but hasn't gotten to full swings because of continued soreness. The Nationals will not shut him down but they also won't try to rush him back if he's not ready. The Nats are currently 6 1/2 games behind the New York Mets for first place in the division. Zimmerman could suffer a major oblique tear if he comes back soon, which could jeopardize his preparation for next season.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is known as a slow healer, and oblique injuries are tricky to come back from. With less than two weeks left in the year, there is now little hope for those that own him. Consider dropping him for someone who can actually help you make a run at a title.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman still out

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 12:34:57 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, Sept. 23. 1B Clint Robinson is at first base again and is batting fifth against Baltimore Orioles SP Chris Tillman.

Fantasy Tip: Robinson ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) isn't a bad sleeper selection on FantasyScore, especially now that he's been playing every day. He's hitting .310 (13-for-42) with a home run and seven RBI this month with Zimmerman hurting.

Nationals | No Ryan Zimmerman Tuesday

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 13:14:26 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (oblique) remains out of the lineup Tuesday, Sept. 22. 1B Clint Robinson starts at first base again and is hitting fifth against Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez.

Fantasy Tip: It remains to be seen if Zimmerman ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) can return this season. Stay tuned. Robinson ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) hasn't been bad at all this month filling in for Zimmerman, as he's hitting .342 (13-for-38) with a home run and seven RBI. He's still a sleeper on FantasyScore, but in the right matchup he could easily return value.
