Phillies | Domonic Brown sitting, maybe for a while

Tue, 24 Jun 2014 15:25:57 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies OF Domonic Brown is out of the lineup Tuesday, June 24, and could be looking at an extended absence from it. "Maybe a little mental break and start over," manager Ryne Sandberg said of Brown's status. Brown took extra batting practice Tuesday and will be asked to regain a "compact, short, more of a line-drive approach." Of 55 outfielders with 250-plus plate appearances, Brown is near the bottom in batting average (.218), on-base percentage (.272) and slugging percentage (.324). OF John Mayberry Jr. will fill in Tuesday, playing left field and hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: If Brown has been dropped in your league and you can afford a consequences-free stash, he may be worth a look. The extra attention analyzing him could pay off. Of course, this could very well become a rotation in the outfield with Brown, Mayberry and newly signed Grady Sizemore, who's on a minor-league deal.

Phillies | John Mayberry could be traded

Sat, 22 Mar 2014 11:18:23 -0700

The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly making OF John Mayberry available as trade bait.

Fantasy Tip: In the last few days, we have discovered that OF Darin Ruf (oblique) and INF/OF Freddy Galvis (knee) will begin the season on the disabled list, so the Phils will probably decide to keep Mayberry for the time being. He should only be considered as a late-round draft pick for NL-only leagues.
