Rockies | Troy Tulowitzki moving around well

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 13:38:08 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (hip) has been moving around well this spring after hip surgery, according to multiple scouts.

Fantasy Tip: Tulo checks in as our second ranked fantasy baseball shortstop, and he could easily be the most valuable player at the 6 before the year is up. That's assuming he's healthy, though. There is an abundance or risk and reward with Tulowitzki, and you'll have to take him in the early rounds in drafts.

Rockies | Troy Tulowitzki homers in ST game

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 16:38:52 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (hip) hit his first spring homer off Seattle Mariners SP Erasmo Ramirez Wednesday, March 11, in the top of the first inning.

Fantasy Tip: Injuries have been a problem throughout Tulowitzki's career, so a healthy showing in the spring is good news for his 2015 outlook. His leaping grab in the bottom of the first inning further illustrates his health status. He's the top offensive option at shortstop by a huge margin, and even with the risk of injury he carries, Tulowitzki is likely a first-round pick in most drafts.

Rockies | Troy Tulowitzki played in spring game

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 17:36:28 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (hip) played in a spring training game Monday, March 9. His return came about a week earlier than expected.

Fantasy Tip: Tulowitzki is coming off another injury-shortened season, but the sight of him on the field -- even in a spring training game -- is a welcome one for fantasy gamers. He's the best offensive shortstop in the game by a wide margin, and he'll be selected in one of the first two rounds of drafts due to the dearth of talent at the position.

Rockies | Troy Tulowitzki could play Monday

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 12:36:39 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (hip) could make his spring training debut against the Cincinnati Reds Monday, March 9. Manager Walt Weiss said a final decision would be made after he completes a workout Sunday, March 8.

Fantasy Tip: Given the lack of quality shortstops available in fantasy baseball, Tulowitzki is likely to be a first-round draft pick despite his recent injury history. If he returns to action Monday, it would be one week sooner than initially anticipated.

Rockies | Troy Tulowitzki simulating game action

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 13:52:17 -0800

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (hip) is simulating game situations at the plate, on the field and on the bases to test his left hip in camp. "Every day I'm working on running out a base hit," said Tulowitzki, who suffered his injury July 19 in Pittsburgh while coming out of the batter's box. "Or it might be first-to-third, or first-to-home. I'll put myself in all those before I get into a game. You know how prepared and crazy I am about all that stuff. I think I'm ready for games, but it wouldn't be smart to put myself out there without it."

Fantasy Tip: Despite a long injury history in his career, Tulowitzki remains a fantasy baseball commodity worth considering at the tail end of the first round. The scarcity at the shortstop position outweighs Tulo's health risk, since we know that his production, when healthy, is head and shoulders above his competition at the position.

Rockies | Troy Tulowitzki to run the bases

Sat, 28 Feb 2015 15:57:51 -0800

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (hip) will begin running the bases next week. Tulowitzki is progressing and even dove for a groundball in the infield Saturday, Feb. 28.

Fantasy Tip: Tulo is one of the best players in baseball when healthy. However, health wasn't a consistent thing in his 20's. Now at 30, he's a very risky first-round pick in universal leagues.

Rockies | Troy Tulowitzki healthy

Mon, 23 Feb 2015 14:06:45 -0800

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (hip), who said he was affected by his name being thrown around in trade rumors this winter, has reported to spring training and has declared himself healthy. He is hitting and fielding but has yet to run the bases. There is no rush to get him on the field this spring, and the team is expected to be cautious with him. "I've gone to lengths and lengths to try to figure this thing out," Tulowitzki said of the various injuries that have robbed him of consistency. "I'm not going to quit. I'm not going to quit trying until I find that right recipe."

Fantasy Tip: Despite all of Tulo's injuries over the years, he remains one of the most intriguing players at a weak shortstop position. When he's fully healthy, he arguably gives you the best fantasy edge at the position. Because of that, he's ranked as our No. 2 SS, just ahead of Ian Desmond. Position scarcity may outweight the injury risk that follows Tulo's name these days.

Rockies | Troy Tulowitzki says he feels great

Mon, 26 Jan 2015 08:55:15 -0800

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (hip) said he feels great heading into the 2015 season. "Honestly, I can say I feel as good as new," Tulowitzki said. "But at the same time, no one is going to believe me until they see me go out and see me play. Come to spring training, watch me play and then make your opinion." He was limited to just 91 games last year and 47 back in 2012. Manager Walt Weiss plans to take it easy on Tulowitzki again this year and give him designated days off.

Rockies | Troy Tulowitzki ramping up activity

Fri, 23 Jan 2015 12:03:08 -0800

Colorado Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki (hip) has been cleared for baseball activity, according to general manager Jeff Bridich. "Tulo was in Denver last week just for a couple days for a routine checkup on his progress, and everything's great," Bridich said. "He's swinging fully, he's taking full batting practice in the cage, and this week he's starting to add taking ground balls in the infield and really starting to ramp up the pure baseball activity."
