Royals | KC looking for outfielders

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 09:59:35 -0700

With Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon (groin) injured, the Royals are searching for outfielders at the trade deadline, and they prefer OF Jarrod Dyson in something less than an everyday role. Kansas City is also worried about OF Alex Rios, who has struggled since the first two weeks of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Until the Royals trade for another outfielder, Dyson ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is an excellent source of stolen bases in all formats, especially if you just lost Dee Gordon to the DL.

Royals | Alex Gordon won't need surgery

Thu, 09 Jul 2015 10:38:04 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon (groin) is on crutches but will not need surgery to fix a Grade 2-plus groin strain. He won't take part in baseball activities for several weeks, according to manager Ned Yost. Yost would not say if he thinks Gordon will be back for the regular season. Gordon is expected to be out for eight weeks. He had seven hits, reached base eight times and drove in six runs in the team's doubleheader victories Tuesday, July 7.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon will miss most, if not all, of the second half of the season. You can drop him in shallow leagues, but you may want to hang on in the deepest of leagues. Jarrod Dyson ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) will now be a hot waiver wire commodity, and he can help in all formats for his stolen base potential.

He took an awkward step near the outfield wall while chasing a ball hit by Logan Forsythe, which turned into an inside-the-park home run. Gordon was carted off the field and replaced by OF Jarrod Dyson.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of the injury is unknown but it's never a good sign when a player is unable to leave the field under his own power. Gordon ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam, so check back for further updates on his status. Dyson ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) could be worth a low-end flier in FantasyScore because of his speed, although he has had difficulty getting on base.

Royals | Alex Gordon will not start

Sun, 17 May 2015 08:08:08 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 17. OF Paulo Orlando will take his place in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) may be sitting because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher, but he should be back in the lineup soon. Orlando ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) does have four hits in his last three games, but owners on FantasyScore may be able to find better options to use.
