Royals | No Alex Gordon against Cleveland

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 08:40:46 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. OF Brett Eibner is starting in left field and batting seventh against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon has struggled when healthy this season and owns a disastrous .635 OPS with just 15 RBI through 62 games. He's not producing starter-caliber numbers in the majority of mixed leagues. Eibner has fared well when given a chance, so he's a viable depth option in cavernous mixed and AL-only formats. You'll likely want to look elsewhere in daily contests Wednesday, though.

Royals | Alex Gordon hitting fifth Friday

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 12:53:56 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon is hitting fifth in the starting lineup Friday, July 15, against the Detroit Tigers and SP Justin Verlander.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is having a subpar season, as evidenced by his .207-7-14 line and 65 strikeouts in 198 at-bats. Ouch. It's hard to tell what is causing this horrendous slump, but until he figures it out let Gordon slide on your roster as well.

Royals | Alex Gordon returns to lineup Sunday

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 08:43:21 -0700

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon will bat seventh and start in left field against Seattle Mariners SP Mike Montgomery Sunday, July 10. C Salvador Perez will bat second and serve as the designated hitter, while C Drew Butera starts behind the plate and bats ninth. DH/OF Kendrys Morales will bat third and play first base, with 1B Eric Hosmer receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Gordon is just 4-for-28 at the plate this month and is batting .201 through 194 at-bats entering play Sunday, so he should be avoided in all formats. Butera is batting .286 with two home runs and eight RBI through 56 at-bats this season and should be viewed as a productive source of cap relief in DFS.
