He is not expected to begin playing catch until September and it is uncertain if he will pitch again before the end of the year. Ryan added that he could see action in the instructional league to get extra work.

Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey (elbow) met with renowned Dr. James Andrews Monday, June 9, for a second opinion on his ailing right elbow. It is still uncertain if the elbow issue which has bothered him recently is an issue related to his ulnar nerve. Surgery could be an option for Pelfrey, but it will not be Tommy John, as it is not related to the ulnar collateral ligament.

Updating a previous report, Minnesota Twins SP Mike Pelfrey (elbow) has no structural damage to his right throwing elbow, but there's still a chance he needs minor surgery. Tests shoved he had an irritated ulnar nerve after examinations of his shoulder showed no issues.
