The Chicago White Sox will consider St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa and former manager Buddy Bell for the managerial vacancy. Bench coach Joey Cora is expected to join Ozzie Guillen with the Florida Marlins.

The Sports Network reports Kansas City Royals manager Buddy Bell has been hired by the Chicago White Sox to serve as the team's Director of Minor League Instruction, effective Nov. 1.

The Associated Press reports Kansas City Royals manager Buddy Bell managed his final game with the Royals on Sept. 30, a 4-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Bell's overall managerial record, with three years in Detroit, three in Colorado and three in Kansas City, is 519-724 for a winning percentage of .418.

The Kansas City Star reports Kansas City Royals OF Joey Gathright had three of the Royals' six hits on Aug. 19 in raising his average to .363. It was his third consecutive multi-hit game and concluded an 8-for-16 weekend against the Oakland Athletics. Manager Buddy Bell said Gathright will get more playing time against left-handed pitchers.

Dick Kaegel, of Royals.MLB.com, reports with the trade deadline looming at the end of July, Kansas City Royals manager Buddy Bell is in favor of making deals to improve his club. "We're going to find ourselves in a pretty good position here before long. We've got real good, young, talented players," Bell said. "But I also think we need to make some moves, too."
