New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said manager Terry Collins is in no danger of losing his job anytime soon. "He came into the season without a contract for next year and may not have one for next year through this season. But as I've told him and said before: This isn't just about wins and losses. It's about how we approach the game and fully taking into account what he has to work with," Alderson said.

New York Mets SP prospect Zack Wheeler, who is currently at Triple-A Las Vegas, walked six batters against Sacramento on Friday, April 19. The walks led to four earned runs, which alarmed manager Terry Collins because Wheeler is not a high-walk pitcher. "I know how hard it is to pitch (there), but good pitchers (have done well) because they threw strikes. I'd rather see 10 hits — that I can understand. But six walks, he's better than that," Collins said.

New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (rib cage) was limited to taking "a couple" of swings Sunday, March 17, as he dealt with stiffness in his right rib cage area. It marked the second straight day Murphy was unable to participate in a minor league game, after playing defense and running the bases on Friday, March 15. If Murphy doesn't begin playing exhibition games by the weekend, he won't be ready for Opening Day, according to manager Terry Collins.
