Mets | Terry Collins, Sandy Alderson expected to return in 2015

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 15:47:22 -0700

New York Mets manager Terry Collins is expected to return next season. General manager Sandy Alderson and Collins are expected to meet this weekend to discuss the manager's future plans. Alderson is also expected to return for next year, and the club has an option on Alderson's original four-year guaranteed deal that will expire this year. "I think Terry has done a fine job this season," the GM said. "I think we've improved in a lot of areas. We've seen growth in our young players, particularly in the pitching -- both in the rotation and the bullpen. That's been well-managed. I think we're positioned well for 2015."

Mets | Closer change might be coming

Sat, 19 Apr 2014 20:20:15 -0700

New York Mets manager Terry Collins hinted Saturday, April 19, that he is changing closers. He said he did not want to address the topic publicly until he addressed players, though.

Fantasy Tip: Jose Valverde allowed three unearned runs, one hit and a walk in an inning of work in a non-save situation Saturday against the Atlanta Braves in the ninth inning. It appears he is out of a job. It's uncertain if the team will promote Vic Black or Jeurys Familia, use Gonzalez Germen or go with a closer-by-committee. For now, Valverde is worth keeping in NL-only leagues, but reserve him.
