Terry Collins Fantasy Baseball News, Notes, Rumors and Statistics
The latest Terry Collins MLB and fantasy baseball news
Fri, 03 May 2013 16:30:42 -0700 New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said manager Terry Collins is in no danger of losing his job anytime soon. "He came into the season without a contract for next year and may not have one for next year through this season. But as I've told him and said before: This isn't just about wins and losses. It's about how we approach the game and fully taking into account what he has to work with," Alderson said.
Sun, 21 Apr 2013 23:42:10 -0700 New York Mets SP prospect Zack Wheeler, who is currently at Triple-A Las Vegas, walked six batters against Sacramento on Friday, April 19. The walks led to four earned runs, which alarmed manager Terry Collins because Wheeler is not a high-walk pitcher. "I know how hard it is to pitch (there), but good pitchers (have done well) because they threw strikes. I'd rather see 10 hits — that I can understand. But six walks, he's better than that," Collins said.
Sun, 17 Mar 2013 23:57:17 -0700 If New York Mets SP Johan Santana is on the disabled list to start the season, manager Terry Collins said SP Jonathon Niese could be tapped for Santana's start.
Sun, 17 Mar 2013 23:55:14 -0700 New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (rib cage) was limited to taking "a couple" of swings Sunday, March 17, as he dealt with stiffness in his right rib cage area. It marked the second straight day Murphy was unable to participate in a minor league game, after playing defense and running the bases on Friday, March 15. If Murphy doesn't begin playing exhibition games by the weekend, he won't be ready for Opening Day, according to manager Terry Collins.
Sun, 17 Mar 2013 23:50:23 -0700 New York Mets 3B David Wright (intercostal) told manager Terry Collins he plans to be ready for Opening Day of the 2013 season Monday, April 1, but Collins is being cautious. "I'm not doubting him, but we certainly have to have a contingency plan in case he's not. But he said, 'I'll be out there.' " Collins said.
Sat, 09 Mar 2013 22:59:50 -0800 Updating an ongoing story, it appears New York Mets SP Johan Santana (shoulder) will begin the 2013 season on the disabled list after his spring-training debut was pushed back again. "Right now, it's day to day with Johan,'' Mets manager Terry Collins said. "We certainly would hope something next week, but if it's not, it's not. Again, part of our conversation is, he's ready when he's ready.''
Wed, 20 Feb 2013 13:47:48 -0800 New York Mets manager Terry Collins will be evaluated this season and isn't in danger of being fired during the year.
Mon, 18 Feb 2013 17:29:53 -0800 With New York Mets 2B Daniel Murphy (ribs) heading back to New York to have rib soreness examined and likely to miss at least a week, it means 2B Jordany Valdespin will get an extended look in spring training and when the Grapefruit League schedule gets underway Saturday, according to manager Terry Collins. Valdespin is fighting for a roster spot.
Tue, 05 Feb 2013 05:15:54 -0800 New York Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said the team hasn't had any recent talks with manager Terry Collins about an extension. He's entering the final year of his contract.
